GBTFS:
We're about the same age (although you do have a day or two on me) but, thinking back to just what has changed since we were young.
You ever try to get into a convenience store when a young person was entering or leaving. They'll knock you over, because THEY are the important ones.
If I ever did that in the presence of my parents, they jack slap me so hard my eyes would cross. I BETTER hold that door for my elders and adress them as maam or sir.
And dont even think of keeping your hat on during the Star Spangle Banner. Cause the person standing next to you man or woman would "help" you remove it.
At that time a Soldier was someone to be admired and emulated. We sure as hell didnt need the POTUS telling us to respect the servicemen and women during the Memorial Day Hollidays.
Although Patrioitism is making a small come-back, respect has a long, long way to go.
