Pocket Knife at School Story

Had a new kid in school our Junior year.

All district kicker from another school with a prothesis below the right knee.

(Riding lawnmower accident as a little kid)

Nobody knew who he was.

First day of school he was cleaning his fingernails with his pocket knife and the teacher told him to put it away.

He ignored her and she sternly told him again.

He immediately flipped it over and jammed the knife blade into his "lower leg" (rubber prothesis covered by jeans).

It stuck there vibrating side to side.

Teacher passed smooth out and hit the floor.

He yanked it out, looked around at us and shrugged and went back to cleaning his nails.

He and I were instant friends.

Used to take his bad leg off, turn it around 180 degrees and strap it back on and walk down the hall that way.

Cracked us all up.

Cool cat that one.

Did you grow up in the late 70's early to mid 80's? Up until the mid 80's we could carry pocket knives around in school. By the time I graduated in '87 all that had gone by the way-side. Ahh, the good old days.

1987 "Old"? What about us that graduated in the late 50s early 60s?f Are we ancient then? When we break a bone do we require the services of a paleontologist and not an orthopedist? Aaahh some days I just feel so old.

You're not "old." You're "Well-Seasoned!"

That's going into my signature, only "I'm not old, I'm well-seasoned."

Cheers!
