The Group Effort

True story.

A friend of mine is in his last week of work at his current job.

At his workplace, on his team, they are reorganizing how they do their work.
Specifically, everyone is being cross-trained to do everyone else's job.

In theory, this is to prevent lost productivity when a critical team member is on leave.
In practice, workload is being shifted from the less capable employees to the more capable ones.
(due to licensing requirements, experience, innate ability, etc.)

The employees whose workloads are decreasing are not receiving a pay reduction.
The employees whose workloads are increasing are not receiving a pay increase.

My friend, recognizing the humor in the situation and, only having one week remaining, was not worried about irritating his management.

Each of the teams have a "team name".
This team's name is "Solo Team".

During their meeting at the beginning of the week my friend suggested a name for the new policies: Solocism.
