Smash Lab

Did anyone catch the new Discovery Channel show Smash Lab on 26 Dec? An interesting concept was tested out and I was wondering what you all thought of it. The format of the show is much like Mythbusters in that they have a theory in which they are trying to prove or disprove.

This "sneak peak" had to do with Rhinoliner, and could it help to bomb proof a building (which it did). What I am more interested in is the fact that they blew up a truck with its truck bed lined with Rhino Liner. They used an explosive specialist to first rig a truck without the liner with 5 pounds of 1.1 attached to the rear axle of the vehicle. After the explosion there wasn't much left of the truck. They did the same thing with an a nearly identicle truck (color was different) whose bed was lined with the Rhino liner. The truck bed was left virtually intact. It vectored the blast away from the truck bed.

This may sound really naive of me, but couldn't this have some implications on how we protect our vehicles in combat? I am not an explosive expert by any means so I was wondering what you all thought.
