From a SF lessons-learned perspective, much comes back to SOG. Linked is a very good overview of the MAC-V-SOG framework, which for the most part has not been detailed for public consumption. The doc also considers the competition possibility of the evolving Strategic Technical Directorate in the south--symbolizing some things never change.
