GB Jump Club
Will be down at Bragg in Sept for a couple of months, and I would like to jump at Raeford. Is the club still up, and are there any guys on here that are jumping out there?

It's been a while since I've jumped with the GB Club...

If you are asking if Raeford is still open, it is.
I was just out there to meet some friends a couple of days ago.

Last I heard the GB Parachute Club was being turned over to the SFA to run. I guess post didn't want to have the lead on it anymore.

There is only one Sport Parachute Club on Bragg now. The GBSPC was rolled into it a couple of years ago.

I would just head out to Raeford, and talk to them.
You might run into someone you know there who can tell you how to get the hook-up. Especially if it is on a weekend.

Gentlemen,
The GB Sport Parachute Activity (aka Fort Bragg Sport Parachute Activity) is no more. MWR in their infinite wisdom decided that it was not making enough money to justify it's existence. Sadly, it was the last of the military clubs (closest thing remaining is the USMA and USAFA activities) ...and it had been in existence since '58/'59 time frame IIRC, and many members had gone on to the USAPT / challenged the MFF course (in fact, I recently figured out that one of the members here (Ret10Echo) put me through the challenge course back in June of 2003)
Longwire,
I recommend going out to Raeford and looking up a guy by the name of Greg O. at the Rathole (Rigging Shop) (yes, Auger Inn is gone as well) - he is an old 10th Grouper, MFFI (before I numbers), and SOGVET & COL M. can vouch for him (SOGVET that he was an MFFI and the COL that he is...well, an interesting guy). If you do l/u with him, please give him my best - and look for the watermelon helmet (my name's on it for the initial jump )
Raeford is pretty straight forward, just have a copy of your log book (they can look up your license on-line) and the Rathole can give your gear a check if required. Jumps are about $22 to altitude, and the Pax-750 is a sweet ride (BS, the Super Otter, is still out there and is also a nice ride...compared to Gene Paul's Cessnas )
No discounts as far as I know of, and definitely not the W.O. Kinnard (FTCKY SPA) prices...
As for someone to jump with, SOGVET can probably put you in touch with the CENTCOM desk officer, he is a belly flyer.
If you have never jumped there, be careful of the Dragon.
PM me for any other info if you like.
Aloha!

GFB,
Thanks for the info, will definitely look Greg up.
I have jumped the Pac 750 before and it is a good ride, I have also jumped Raefords Super Otter before.......It was contracted back in Sep/Oct 03 to get guys trained up to Challenge this course, which I successfully completed. Thats another story.
And By the Way, there is no longer a FTCKY SPA, they too fell victim to the $$, despite being the only program that Made $$.
Thanks Again.........

Some of them actually hang out with me.

Did I ever tell you about the time me and Gary O took General Guest's "car" to Raeford DZ (the General took the chopper) and didn't cover the license plate?

No, but Gary was the Weapons Sergeant on my team, so I do not find any surprise in that at all.
