Man that picture brings back memories. Gia Vuc was the southern most camp in I Corps and we (Mang Buk) the northern most camp in II Corps in our particular area of the highlands. Are AOs butted up against one another. They had an Arc Light diverted one night from their area to their southern most section along a ridge line. I was out with my recon yards along the opposite side of the ridge line. I Corps notified everyone in I Corps but no one notified us because technically we were in II Corps even though half my AO was in I Corps. We were knocked stupid when those thousand pounders hit on the opposite side of the ridge line. Figured that if I Corps wasn't going to talk to me I would get the lads at Gia Vuc to relay any of that stuff to me that was going in along their southern most AO. I remember that aerial picture of their camp clear as day as I flew in there to link up with my SF counterpart to have a chat. Can't remember who he was but I do remember that camp being out in the open where we were locked tightly into the mountains and the rain forest. Quite a contrast in camps. At night in the mountains it was jet black dark and when the sunset against the mountains all you could hear was forest critters.
