Fascinating article. And, I suppose, it's a logical next step in contracting out and outsourcing. It's interesting to speculate where it might lead.

I saw this a lot in 2005. First it began with the contracted individuals working for the different agencies what have 3 letters to identify them. These weren't normal employees, no, they were contractors to the truest form. Most were college grads or teachers with a language or whatnot that were granted security clearences. They would "deploy" anywhere from 3 months to 24 months and were making big bucks. Then towards the end I started to see the private intel companies coming around. They were a big problem because they would step all over our guys at the ACT when it came to reporting. It got so bad that our Brigade commander had to go and meet with the head person for this one group because they were requesting intel from our battalions and not going through us. What a mess.

Way of the future I suppose...
