DATE POSTED: MAY 21, 2007

PRESS RELEASE : Special Forces Soldier Dies in Hospital
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, May 21, 2007) – An Army Special Forces Soldier died May 17 at Lower Keys Medical Center after losing consciousness during a training event at the Special Forces Underwater Operations School May 15.

Staff Sgt. Charles Lee Glenn, a Special Forces communications sergeant assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), was a student in the Combat Dive Qualification Course and was conducting pool drills prior to the incident.

He then reported to Fort Bragg, N.C., for the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course in 2003. Glenn was selected for Special Forces training, and completed the Special Forces Qualification Course in 2005.

He reported to 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in December 2005, where he was assigned to a Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha. He had recently completed a tour in Iraq before beginning the Combat Dive Qualification Course.

Glenn is survived by his wife Cheryl of Clarksville, Tenn., his mother Linda of Lincoln, Ala. and his sister Nita of Leeds, Ala.

You ask; What is our policy? I will say; “It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us: to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy.” You ask; What is our aim? I can answer with one word: Victory—victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.-Winston Churchill
