Tax Day Is Tomorrow

Just a quick reminder to all on the site that 17 Apr 2007 is the due date for Federal (and most) State Individual Tax Returns.

If you haven't filed your tax returns by now, don't forget to file for an automatic extension (Form 4868) and get it in the mail by the end of the day tomorrow. This will give you six months to get your return filed with the IRS.

Also remember that, if you file for an extension and will owe tax, you are supposed to send in the amount you think you'll owe with your extension. Else, our beloved Federal Collection Agency (I guess IRS sounds better) will assess you with a late payment penalty and interest on top of the tax you owe.

Ok, that's all from me...time to get back at it. Two more days until sweet, sweet freedom.

Until the current Big Government Administration, that tracked nicely with the political thoughts on which party was in office directly affecting taxation.

I look for it to continue to trend upwards with a Dem Congress and their entitlement constituency, and it will accelerate if the next POTUS is a Dem, probably even if it is a RINO.

Well, that's true. I was being a little (okay, a lot) selfish in my thinking. My staff and I are looking forward to getting to and from work while it's daylight.

Speaking of which, we are having our Annual Company-Wide After-Tax Season Bowling Tournament tomorrow (we close at 12:00 tomorrow...if our late-arrivals haven't gotten with us by then, they'll have an extension waiting when we get back). There's nothing like knocking over a few pins to release 3.5 months of pent-up frustration. My secretary (with her 180 bowling average) and I (with my "slightly less than 180" average) take on my partner, our staff accountant, and our payroll specialist. It's a no-lose situation for my secretary and me. If we win, the two of us beat three of them. If we lose, it took three of them to beat two of us. Most importantly, everyone has a good time, and it's a great way to have some finality to tax season.

Anyway, I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I'm pretty sure it's not a train.
