Shooter, The Movie?
Okay. So I just finished watching the new movie "Shooter" starring Mark Wahlberg. I went with a buddy of mine who highly recommended it as a great man's movie (it was his 2nd time watching). Now, I certainly didn't expect what I saw.
First of all, I was perturbed to learn that Danny Glover was also a star in this movie. Mostly, because I hate the idea that some fraction of a percentage of my $7 goes into his wallet which he turns around and uses to fund protests. Well, if THAT's not bad enough (which, I assure you, it is) I was further appalled to see that Danny Glover plays a Colonel in the United States Army who is the winner of a Congressional Medal of Honor. Does anyone else see the hypocrisy here? Danny Glover will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of Jane Fonda and nay say American soldiers, but when the chance to make a quick couple million meanders by he'll jump at the opportunity to portray an American warrior who has been bestowed with this nation's greatest honor. Good job, Danny. Way to inspire change by taking a stand in what you believe in... money.
But as the movie progressed I began to realize what the film was really about... it's a smear campaign. It is painfully obvious that this entire movie is nothing more than a smear campaign wrapped in a conservative package.
It seems to me that the movie would have you believe that it is not only perfectly acceptable behavior, but nonetheless a patriotic duty to murder FBI agents, soldiers, and law enforcement officers because our government is so corrupt that anyone who allies themselves behind it is a bad guy. There are so many lines in the movie this movie that try and draw parallels between what is happening in the world today and their plot of total government corruption that it borders the line of insanity. I could go on forever here, but I'll just end by saying that I wanted a run-of-the-mill action movie and instead I received lecture in extremist left-wing propaganda 101. Thanks Hollywood. Thanks Danny. I want my $7 back.
In conclusion, I guess I'll just have to watch 300 two more times to offset the net earning's Shooter has received at the box office.

I had a feeling I would also be disappointed which is why I havent bothered with watching Shooter. I think we have seen it all before; ex-sniper, called up to serve the nation, betrayed, on the run...bla-bla-bla.......I was sure there would be weak links in the story.....
You sir, have done what I did with my 5 bucks; I watched 300 twice more....
And how glad I am I did!

I saw 300 for the 3rd time yesterday, this time in IMAX. If you havent seen it in IMAX its well worth watching again in that format.

For me Shooter was a complete waste of money, mostly a hollyweird propaganda film. I could live with the logisitic errors, but it was way over board on the Evil government thing.
I would like my money and time back.
