Thanks Spartan74 I'd never seen or heard that before!

Some of us don't like the "jump and die" verse.... Remember it is the Army Special Forces that make the enemy die for their country and cause.

I have the 33 1/3 album from 1971 that I bought at the JFK Center. Now if I just had a turntable...

TS,

I know everybody here has heard the song. I just thought it was cool because I'd never seen it on video.

I have the little 45 RPM with The Ballad of the Green Berets on side one and Letter from Vietnam on side two.

Other songs were I'm a Lucky One, Garet Trooper, The Soldier Has Come Home, Salute to the Nurses, I'm Watching the Raindrops Fall, Badge of Courage, Trooper's Lament, Bamiba, Saigon and Lullaby.

Question

Interesting to see the video...we've heard the song so many times.

Weird seeing a CIB in the prone unsupported without any wings or ribbons to support it...any old timers that can provide us with some insight???

His "Wings" are on his Pocket Flap.

It was an unwritten rule that we did not display "Ribbons", only Wings and CIB. That is, if I recall correctly!! As I understood it, we were not in any competition, we were only to display the very basics.

To show how old I have become, I watched that particular show on the Ed Sullivan show a "long time ago".

Ambush Master you are correct, we would get ordered to wear "All awards and Decorations" for parades and inspections, otherwise it was wings and CIB/CMB only.

Some of us feel that there are only a couple decorations worth wearing - jump wings and a CIB. I was once asked if that was the new 'marksmanship badge'. I said "Yes - you get it on a 2-way rifle range". Got some strange looks and fingers going in opposite directions.

You can download almost all of those on limewire or shareeza

I have them on my computer at home.

I think you're right about him being a medic. I read an interview with him and he said he'd come out on stage and say, "I'm now going to sing a medley of my hit" since he really had only one.

He also wrote a series of fiction called, "Casca" that was pretty good.

The A Team

Here are the lyrics to the A Team. This is my favorite Berry Sadler song.

A-Team

12 men strong and true
12 men fight for you
On their heads a beret of green
12 men, invincible
The A-team

12 men heard the call
Ready to give their all
They bring hope where they are seen
12 men invincible the A-team

From Asia’s tropical jungle rain
All the way to Africa’s burning plains

Where ever there’s trouble
Night or day
Go the men of the Green Beret
To fan the fire of freedoms dream
12 men invincible the A-team
12 men invincible the A-team

Blue
