Badlands Forum and Firefox

Just thought I'd share this: Badlands Forums (great knife forum) only works in IE. For you Firefox users, there is now an extension called IE Tab that lets you open IE-only pages in FF.

Thanks for the heads up, NDD.

I've downloaded FF 2.0 - is it me, or does this version seem more like IE 7 in look and feel?

It's the other way around... IE 7 was Microsoft's attempt to fish back the many, MANY users they had lost to Mozilla.

It didn't work.

Yeah, I understand that from a functionality perspective. I was just talking about the aesthetics. The graphics and look of FF 2.0 appear less like FF 1.0 and more like IE 7. But I have to switch back and forth (now, I guess I had to), so I'm probably just confused.

I think Brian is right.

Anyway, the thing for IE doesn't work 100% apparently. For example, the back button.

However, it's still awesome. Thanks for the info... now I don't have to open IE for Badlands... or Windows Update.

Stupid Microsoft. If Apple ever releases iTunes for Linux, I'm OUTTA HERE.

There is also the "backdoor workaround" if you don't want to download patches and periphs, as follows:

Open the Badlands home page in FireFox.

Due to the heavy documentation/comments in the code used for the site you won't be able to see the login box.

You can however click through to PhotoPost and the login screen for PhotoPost is useable in FireFox as it does not have as many comments.

Since PhotoPost and the Forums share authentication, once you have a cookie from our PhotoPost site you will be able to access the forums when you go back to them.

====================================

This is also the workaround I use when accessing via Netscape.

We have had "intentions" to upgrade the vBullentin software to eliminate Firefox/Mozilla issues for about a year now but it has not yet come to fruition. I've spoken recently to "On High" (Mick) about this and hopefully it is in the near future.

You know what they say about good intentions and the road to hell and all that.

Working on it Sirs. Bear with us.

That only works when accompanied with a nice cheese.

Yes, and it doesn't work with the newest version of iTunes, only version 5, and you can't access the iTunes store with the older versions.

Good topic at the beginning but it's not about knives anymore.
