Green Berets cozy in Mullah Omar’s compound

I'll bet this is pissing someone over there off.

Even the food gets extra high marks. Soldiers on Sunday night enjoyed barbecue chicken, spicy hamburgers and pork ribs roasted on a large outdoor grill.
Nice touch.

Spent a little time there myself...definately some of the better digs in the south, unfortuantely, its just a quick hop, skip and jump from the flagpole at Khandahar making it a prime spot for VIP Visits.

FB Maholic is the heat!!!

I tried to sneak out and stay, but got reeled back in. The FB is a sweet setup. Yes it is close to the flagpole, but it's got a great flat range and lots of steel to shoot.

I've got a video of LTG Eikenberry shooting steel on the range there. Pretty good stuff. I'm unsure who took the footage and would post it if the rightful owner could be found. I'm at the flagpole, and get more trigger time on the computer than on the range. Guess that's why I'm a support knucklehead.

J13, I agree, the range is definately sweet there. We went out one time and had a local drive a pickup truck towing a sled 100 yds behind and practiced taking sniper shots out of a Hawk...dont get to do that kind of training here in the States!

If I recall correctly, every Friday was steak and lobster night, food was also pretty dang good for downrange!

Fire base.. Please what base has a pool to take a dip in. 20th Grp did a good deed with the pool. Its winter here, so it doesn't do much I guess now.

Very nice base, can't bet living at it. Great ranges and overall set up.

I just read in the EB last week, or the week before, that they were planning to take all of KHar back in the Spring. I'm sure it'll take some of the tedium out of MtnGoat's days if they actually muster up enough knuckleheads to try!

In another post, weren't you complaining about being bored with your mundane job? Instead of going to a place like that (where the guys that put their necks out on a daily basis go to unwind), why don't you find a way to go out on some patrols, get some experience, break out of the cycle of boring in which you feel trapped?
