Desktop Background
I have a widescreen monitor, and so the normal desktop backgrounds don't work too well for me. I've been looking for an Army-themed background for a while, and couldn't find anything I liked. So, I made one and thought I'd share it in case anyone else has a similar problem. The thumbnail gives you an idea of the look.
If I'm out of line putting this here, let me know, and I'll square myself away.

Not quite Photoshop--I used Gimp. I'm not much of a graphics guru, but I can muddle through it.
Edit:
The GI profile is an unnamed 1st ID soldier near LSA Anaconda--so says army.mil http://www4.army.mil/armyimages/army...php?photo=2139
The flag and the Army Seal are from a web search, and the text is homemade.

Great Job!
That's a cool background, are you going to try any others?

I'm thinking about doing an Infantry, 1st ID, 82nd, and 101st wallpapers. I'll take requests, of course, and do my best.
Thanks for the compliments.

Pete, I'd never be so presumptuous. If I butchered the other units desktops, then I get into a fistfight. If I mess up the Special Forces desktop, then I just disappear one night, never to be seen again
Actually, I'm having trouble finding high resolution graphics to use. I'll find them, though, I know they're out there.

They're out there. I've been working on the same thing for a couple months. Maybe life will get out of the way and I can finish.

Kyo-
Still looking for the 'non parade' item to snap that you wanted it's in storage, and is hiding from me.

Here's the rough draft of the first 3 walls I'm working on. they are resized for the site at 800 X. I've provided a link to the 1280 x 1024 full screens in zip. The associated screensavers are not done. Others are in the works.
I'll post the finals when they're ready.
I am still looking for more pics for the screensavers if anyone has them. maybe the "Troll" will track down his pics.

Nice work, Kyobanim! I think I'm going to use those for my "square" monitor at work!
Hoepoe: I'm using Gimp on Windoze , but my servers are all Linux or BSD . I ran a Gentoo desktop for a long time, but I like to play shooters, and WINE/Cedega weren't cutting it.
