Retreat Isn't an Option

Liz Cheney wrote a great article calling out Shrillary and the Dems for their stances on Iraq, and outlining reasons why Iraq is important to the GWoTa (Global War on Terrorist a******s).

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...012201103.html

The following quote struck a chord with me:

Quote:
Our soldiers will win if we let them. Read their blogs. Talk to them. They know that free people must fight to defend their freedom. No force on Earth -- especially not an army of terrorists and insurgents -- can defeat our soldiers militarily. American troops will win if we show even one-tenth the courage here at home that they show every day on the battlefield. And by the way, you cannot wish failure on our soldiers' mission and claim, at the same time, to be supporting the troops. It just doesn't compute.
I agree with the above quote, but good soldiers require good leadership. Any chance any of you retired warriors would come back in a planning capacity?

Good Article. Wondering how we can restructure our planning system to better support the opertional force. Been kicking this can around in my head...multiple plans teams working for one commander...more (old) SF guys in plans jobs....other ideas?

YES! Stop the freaking micro management. This is starting to infect the everyday life at all levels. This is not good for for lower leadership and is absolutely unacceptable for combat. \

Higher - what, when

Lower - who, how

Higher stay away, trust your people or fire them!

IMHO I think that SOF should operate as a SOF unit should..without interference, and without question. Too much is determined by the fear of retaliation from CF unit commanders. Let SOF do what it was trained to do.
