Back surgery

If anyone has had back surgery recently, specifically L5 S1 fusion, I would be very interested in their experience. I am interested in recovery times, how long before you could return to a PT program, running, lifting etc? How much is it limiting your range of motion now and, was there a significant reduction in your back pain after you recovered from the surgery? What physical therapy exercises did you find to be the most helpful during your recovery period? I have listened to the civilian Doctors, and did a fair amount of research on the web. It is my impression that those opinons appear to be geared to the general population and, their level of activity and physical condition. I generally find the information here more reliable, much closer to my lifestyle and, general level of physical activity. Surgery has been recommened for me. If anyone would care to share what they know, or have experienced, I would be most grateful.
Thank you.
