Just to clarify are you talking about the budget in theory or the 2006 budget that is chock full of wasteful earmarks?

Any earmark in the 2006 budget by Stevens, Cochran or Byrd deserve close scrutiny.

One wouldn't do it.

I would like to veto ALL earmarks. Offer any savings to pay off the national debt.

Earmarks should be banned and if you can't get the Congress to vote on an item don't sneak it in. Make them go on record.

Next is that little trick of "changing" the record after the fact and reading a long meandering statement into the record after hours to get it in without censure or debate.

Again up or down, have some balls.

Next would be the "feel good crap" that goes into budgets because some special interest group needs some money to back the research on the African Fruit Fly.
