Princess Diana was bugged by secret service in US

Through out my career I've read hundreds of pages of top secret intelligence. Most intel I've read that pertained to "individuals" were usually leaders of hostile countries, terrorists etc.

I've never heard anything such as spying on a former Princess.....

And Elvis thought he was in the DEA and or FBI and or CIA..... who also kept files on him.

And if you guys think this site isn't monitored by Big Brother (just look at all the triggers that get posted every day) you're naive, they leave us alone because of our current/previous lives in SF.

And no, I don't own a tinfoil and copper wire beret, painted green, even though it really would cut down on the shaping - kind of a set it and forget it beret, wouldn't fold well though. Ooops, that would be against AR 670-1, I believe it states the beret is to be constructed of wool.

US Secret Service and its British counterparts advised against a vacation with her two boys to visit Teddy Forstmann in the Hamptons, saying it was "too dangerous." She went to Paris instead, and, well...

Forstmann, according to PowerLine, was a co-chair of Bush Sr's '92 campaign.

Wikipedia (quick and dirty research) says nothing else of any note regarding Forstmann which would necessitate action on the part of the Secret Service.

I'll look into a fitting for one of those tinfoil doohickies.

As to the steel wool beret: Only if it could be made of 0000 or 00000 - anything less fine would leave splinters. And actually copper wool would patina out nicely, green and everything!!!! Can I please get one now, huh, please?

My Dad worked for Teddy Forstmann in the late 80's. I was talking to my Mom about all this and said "Mom, Forstmann looks like Pauly Walnuts from The Sopranos, how could he get Princess Di?". She replied: "When you own a Gulfstream jet you can get 10's, when you own Gulfstream the company you can get Princess Di." Forstmann and is a big conservative and GOP backer. He's given alot to free-market type groups in the past, as well as anti-communist efforts in the 80's. My Dad remembers walking out of a meeting once at his hq and seeing two Afghan Muj in full afghan garb, not exactly the standard three piece you see in Manhattan.

I used to work for one of Forstmann Little's portfolio companies. My boss had to go to their officers in the GM building for weekly meetings, and would take me along. Ted never sat in on our meetings, but he was around and would say hi. At the time, that building was the most expensive office space in Manhattan. Nothing ostentatious about their offices, but they enjoyed spectacular views of Central Park.

One time, we were sitting aroung waiting for the meeting to start, so we grabbed the key from the receptionist and hit the common area bathroom outside their suite in the hallway. Later in the meeting, when one of the partners found out, he reprimanded us for not using the bathroom inside their suite. Apparently, Ted did not want clients to use the bathroom outside. Their bathroom was the nicest I'd ever seen in an office building, complete with showers, plush towels, wood paneling and marble everywhere.

Interestingly, Erskine Bowles, Clinton's Chief of Staff during the first term, became a partner at FL after he left the administration.
