Curious About Pain Control/Mgmt?

Hi, I'm researching methods of "natural" pain management and/or control. Natural as in, sans medications/drugs. There seem to be alot of stories about brave men who continue fighting or see their job/mission through despite painful injuries like gs wounds, ordinance wounds, etc. Is it purely the adrenaline rush that helps you through that, or do they teach you any kinds of meditation techniques to use, or anything at all, during training in order to be able to bear up under that kind of a distraction. And pain, as I"m sure some of you are aware, is a huge distraction. How do you stay focused in spite of it?

Thanks in advance for taking your time to read and reply.

JP

PS If there's a better forum for this question, please feel free to move it. Thanks

Good morning Jessipo and welcome to PS.com-

Specific techniques of training and conditioning will not be discussed openly on this particular site. We are very conscious of the fact that this is able to be viewed from anyone, anywhere in the world. That includes people who would be seeking information that would be detrimental to the United States Armed Forces and our Country as a whole.

I can tell you that the mind is capable of incredible feats. Many times in our everyday lives, it is our body that drives the mind: "I'm hot, I'm tired, I need to stop and rest".
The personality and training of many professional atheletes, and soldiers, is an effort at the opposite-to have the mind drive the body: "Yeah, it sucks-so what. Yeah, I'm tired-big deal. I'd like to rest-I'll do it later when I don't have this other thing to get done."
Injury management of the body is a different mechanism altogether-involving chemicals and responses that have been ingrained into us for our very survival. If you were to look up the "Fight or Flight" mechanism-you may get additional information you find helpful.

Enjoy your stay here-

Eagle

Thanks, Eagle

Thank you, Eagle. I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post. I apologize, I should have worded my question a little differently so that it didn't ask for any specifics on training/methods and I'll keep that in mind in the future.

Thanks also for the suggestion of search terms. I admit, I hadn't thought to look under those specific terms, which is probably why I couldn't find anything online or anywhere about this subject.

The info you provided, however, was truly helpful and gave me something to think about and perhaps some other avenues that I can explore as well to figure this out.

I really do enjoy this site. It's fun, yes, but it's also really comforting to know that there are knowledgable individuals concerned with securing the rights and freedoms of people in our country and around the world. [Of course, there's a bit of hero-worship included there, too. ]

Take care and again, thanks for your time and attention,

JP
