Hot Deal on Silva Compasses

Sportsmans Guide is having a very good sale on a Swedish military Silva compass that appears almost identical to the Ranger model. They're reported to be in new, unissued condition, have adjustable declination, phosphorescent markings on the bezel and base, and have 1:25K & 1:50K map protractors on the base. They're just under $30 (not including shipping), or $27 for club members. I haven't ordered one or seen one first hand, but I've always had excellent luck with Sportsman's Guide products being just as they're advertised.

Well, I ordered the above mentioned compass, and it arrived today. It seems I need to eat my words about being confident with Sportsman's Guide's descriptions. It is indeed a brand new Silva Ranger compass, but its a standard Type 15, which means it doesn't have the adjustable declination, nor the clinometer. At $30 its still a good deal, but its not as good as it would be if it had the adjustable declination feature and the clinometer. Sorry if I led any of you astray.
