U.S. Troops Targeting Zarqawi
CBS news reported that 7 delta force soldiers have been killed so far in this operation. They said the story was reported in the Army Times and confirmed by the Pentagon.

However, the article below from Army Times does not mentioned anything about US casualties from this engagement.

There's lots of mistakes in that article.
Special Forces are not in support of JSOC never have been and never will be.
We also hunt terrorists, unilaterally and do not require the heavy heavy support JSOC does.
"The JSOC presence in Iraq continues to grow. About a year ago, Army Special Forces Command offered McChrystal some A-teams, but he declined the offer, according to the special operations source."
I did find this amusing.......
I'd turn down the offer also..... hate to have SF guys find Zarqawi before JSOC did......

The Army Times article only refers to a specific engagement. The CBS link takes me to a main international news page with various articles. I can't find what report you refer to.
There have, of course, been casualties in Iraq among USASOC personnel, but the media tend to conflate Rangers, SF, SMUs, SOAR and support personnel. How many times have you heard reference over the years to "18 Rangers killed in Somalia"?

The only place I found the information was the video link on the CBS site. I apoligize, but I could not place a link directly to the video.
In order to find it today, I had to go to the CBS News site and search on videos from 5/2/06. The title is us troops target Zarqawi. Here's the search link, maybe that will work.

I believe you are being too kind in your description. Clearly the author is an arrogant person who believes that the people running the missions cannot be trusted and leaking information hinders their purposes which is how he, the reporter, can exercise control.

He simply forgets or ignore the most threshold issue: it puts our troops in a more dangerous position, gives our enemy a greater understanding of our mission and lessens the chances of our success.
While doing this, he more than likely believes he is doing a great service to humanity. That's the problem with arrogance. It's blinding. The more you practice it, the less your are capable of seeing the truth.
I've found that arrogant folks always seek to control others and invariably seem to overassess their own abilities. This leads them to become arm chair quarterbacks opining on issues which are simply out of their element.

These folks always choose one example to validate their position. What about the rapid destruction of the Taliban by a small group of folks who had great latitude in their scope of actions, relying mostly on initiative, creativity and agressive action. Was this successful? Absolutely, and I doubt overall command was aware of each significant action.
