Saw that.
Interesting and I would love to see it happen, but I do not think that LTG B could get confirmed and rumor is that the next SOCOM CG will be a SEAL.
General Boykin is a great American and a good friend though.

"Sen. John Warner, the Republican chairman of that committee and Virginia's senior senator, does not agree with Allen's suggestion.
"Senator Allen is entitled to his views. He did not consult with me on this matter, but this officer would not be among those whom I would recommend for this position," Warner said in a statement to the AP."
I do not believe he can be confirmed. I wonder if John Abizaid has a chance.

I sure hope not.
How much time has he spent in SOF lately?

Had the honor of meeting this man five years ago. He is a Virginia Tech alumnus and addressed the cadet corps my senior year. As I recall, his focus for all those soon-to-be-officers was on getting the job done and taking care of their people, to hell with everything else. Still sounds like good advice to me.
(To prevent incoming fire: more good advice would be to keep quiet, keep lurking and keep rucking. Understood, I'm on it.)

Nothing like letting political correctness trump national security issues. If Gen Boykin is as good as you guys say he is, then who gives a rats rear end that he made "inappropriate comments"? I sure as hell don't. I wonder how far Patton would have advanced in his career if he were born 60 years later than he was.

LTG B would be good for SOCOM.
Shame if the brew-ha-hah prevented his nomination/confirmation.
