I am SGT H (Team Sergeant edit, no last names required.). I am a 19D with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Currently, I am deployed to Afghanistan. It was a individual deployment to help the Army Corp of Engineers. I provide crew served weapon security from a MATV while they conduct inspections of sites all over the south and southwest districts. I showed an interest in C/2/19th SFG a few years ago. I should've took it. But, I have matured alot and gained alot more experience since then. I feel I am ready to give it my all this time. I sent an email to the recruiter a few days ago. I hope to get a jump on the process of interstate transfer or atleast get the right contacts for when it is time to do so. I work with former SF and current SF operators here. They give me lots of hints about Selection and the Q. I am a sponge! I am willing to take any advice given. I have been told by many Senior NCO's that I have a good ability to keep calm under stress and strong will to learn. Thank you.

Introduction

Hello all. I am a 29 year old male and I'm a full time Firefighter/Medic in the DC-Metro area. I have been in the Maryland Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer for 3 years.

I found this site through SOCnet while looking for information to make me a better all-around soldier (i.e. tips/info. about Land Nav/rucking/PT/etc). I started by reading through threads of interest, and I've since registered so I can use the Search feature.

To the Quiet Professionals: thanks for your innumerable sacrifices in your Service to our Country.

Hello all, let me start off by saying that im a 68w awaiting to be shipped to basic and hoping my recruiters can squeeze an op40 into my contract before i leave. Basically im trying to get as much information as possible about.. well.. everything. My goal is to become a quite professional, but I'm trying to decide whether i want to go 18x and go straight into the program or go through ranger school first and then go into SF after i have a few years of experience under my belt.

Retired Grumpy Old Man

My name is Kirk - I hooked up with this site a couple of years ago and then forgot about it (creeping Alzheimer's, no doubt). I was a commo man in the 7th and 8th Groups, spent some years with C/3/11 when I got out, came back on active duty with the 7th and was assigned to SWC when I retired in '95. I worked for a couple of military contractors for a few years, but now I spend my time sitting out on the porch of my house in the mountains of western NC listening to the creek run by, messing around with my collection of old military weapons, and taking an occasional shot at whatever looks like it needs to be shot at. Check with me for the current password before you come up my road. My wife says I can be an obnoxious SOB but I wouldn't shoot a brother.

Good afternoon

First and foremost let me start by thanking all the Quiet Professionals on this forum for serving our country with honor. Thank you again for starting this forum with all this information and advice, for men such as myself who wish one day to join your ranks and maybe serve right alongside of you.

My name is Gustavo, 24 year old Cuban-American male from Miami, Florida. I work as a Document Management Specialist for Miami-Dade Public Housing. Married and Father of two beautiful little girls’ ages 6 and 3 and expecting another baby girl in October. I want to go Army National Guard and hopefully get prepared enough to make selection, pass the Q course and join 20th Group 3rd Battalion Special Forces in Ocala, Florida. As of right now aiming at my 25 meter targets which are obtaining my associates degree in Criminal Justice and getting in top shape before even speaking to an SF recruiter. It’s an honor to read all your informative posts and process all the information and advice the QP’s give out on this forum. Thank you all once again.

Madruga's Intro

I'm 24 and graduated with my B.A. in Criminal Justice (an admittedly limited degree due to its lack of specificity) this past May from a small college in Georgia. I'm 5'10, 200 lbs., with ~15% bf. I'm currently restructuring my workouts to focus on cardio and body weight exercises as opposed to my regular routine of heavy weight lifting.

I will be enlisting in the next few days and I am certainly hoping that the ubiquitously discussed 18x MOS will pop up. I required a moral waiver for a DUI arrest in 2009 and a medical waiver for a knee surgery in 2007. If I can't secure the 18x contract, I'm considering 68w.

Barring events that are beyond my control, I know that I will be a SF soldier one day; however, I'm currently focusing on getting to BCT and simply doing my best in all areas. My path to the Army Special Forces is uncertain right now, but I look forward to working hard as I progress there.

God bless.

FNG from South Dakota

Hello,

My name is Greg Dykstra. I'm owner and operator of www.primalrights.com. We are a firearms review and testing website, community forum, as well as a class 3 firearms dealer. We also perform beta testing and R&D for various companies in the firearms industry.

I was in the ARMY NG for 6 years. Spent most of that time as a 12B.

I have a heavy background in precision rifle, reloading, and interior/exterior ballistics.

Looking forward to contributing and learning in an environment with high signal to noise ratio.

-Greg

10th Group Introduction

I stumbled across this site while doing some professional research while deployed. I am 34 years old and am the Senior Communications Sergeant for an ODA in 4th Bn 10th SFG. I have 16 years of active service, formerly a 12B, and have been in group since January 2006. I served four years in 1-10 in A and C-Co and have spent close to the past three years in 4th Bn. I also have a BA in International Relations. This site is a great resource and has already assisted me with projects on my current deployment.

Introduction

Hello, my name is Alex and I'm currently a sophomore in college. Truth be told I've always aligned myself with joining the Navy and tackling BUD/S after college but the SF motto De oppresso liber has always struck me as something that I personally believe in. The one thing I love doing the most is to help people in need and is the reason why I've been looking deeper into Special Forces to further educate myself and decide what path I should take. I am very thankful and appreciative that I've been given the chance to learn from the years of experience that the Quiet Professionals have collected.

Also I'm pretty sure that my grade school history teacher was former SF and exposed me to experiences in Special Forces early on. Does Realini ring a bell?

Thank you gentlemen for reading my post.

I am amused that you state you'd like to try out for two combat units and one non-combat unit. You might want to do a lot more reading before you make your choice. TS
