okay..
Have you read the book by Dinesh D'Souza, "The Root's of Obama's Rage"?
I watched the trailers, plus Dinesh's presentation at 2012 CPAC where he provides insight into the movie. He suggests he is an anti-colonialist like his father... that he is "not a ordinary democrat" and "he wants to realign America in the world"...
I have not read his book, but plan to.

The closest theater in my state is over 2 hours away... hopefully, it will show at a location closer to home in the not too distant future.

Wife and I were among about two dozen patrons who watched this last night. The entire theater seemed slow and empty. Interestingly, an usher pointedly made the rounds checking the two emergency doors twice before and at the beginning of the performance.
2016: Obama's America was a pretty even-handed documentary comparing and contrasting the authors and Obamas life/worldview. No right-wing attacks or hyperbole, just a rationale conversation about the authors thesis. The primary thrust the author put forward was that Obama was a anti-colonialist. He steered clear of most of the conspirator theories about the man such as birth place and real father. He presented a lot of information about the people who influenced his life and used Obamas own words to illustrate it.
This may be why this movie is doing so well in so-called leftist strongholds due to my presumption that these leftists hold similar anti-colonialist views and also want to "fundamentally transform America".
During the entire movie an old refrain kept running through my mind: One Big Assed Mistake America!

Saw the film last night. It was a fairly small crowd but at the end they clapped. It is an interesting perspective into the psyche of President Obama. It made a lot of sense and suggests a vision of what America will look like should he win this election. He shows how America is a Nation founded on a set of ideas.. and in the end believes that POTUS beliefs are influenced by a different set of ideals and founders .... anti-colonialist. He creates a compelling storyboard that supports a solid argument to the pattern of this administration's actions... is thought provoking.
I hope it starts to draw bigger crowds...

There's one about 30 minutes away from me, I may grab a friend or two and go check it out.

Agree with your whole review and especially the comment above. I had this bias going in based on what I've observed during his administration without knowing his background to the level this film illustrates... afterwards, the sense was much stronger.

Documentaries in the future won't be so easy on the man.

I didn't walk away with a sense that he was easy on him at all... matter of fact, I think he raises a level of threat beyond America... thus anti-colonialist. Dinesh suggests he is dangerous to the stability of the world. It is an interesting dialogue... IMO.

Did the movie reveal the Obamas' close working relationship with William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn? His involvement with Rezko and Rashidi? His time at Harvard or Colombia? The truth about his communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis? His twenty years of attendance at JWrights' Black Liberation Theology Church?
If all that stuff was brought out in the open, I'll buy the movie today.
