I went to the memorial today, Jeremy's parents are friends of ours. I served with his dad.
Last time I saw Jeremy he was just a little guy.
No way to console friends over the loss of a child.

The family of Staff Sergeant Jeremy E. Staff Sergeant Bessa is currently scheduled to arrive at Addison Airport on March 9, 2009 with services and interment on March 10, 2009. Staff Sergeant Bessa is survived by a wife and young son. His father and brother are also in the United States Army.
Details are being worked out at this time between the family and the military and a final itinerary will be posted as soon as possible.
Please prepare to stand tall and silent for this young man who gave his life for his country.
Thank you.

A friend of mine rode the escort from Addison Airport to the Funeral Home today. He said that it was the LARGEST turnout for an initial escort that he has seen!! 70+ Bikes.
I'll be riding with the procession tomorrow, but also plan on mixing with our Brothers.
Will take some pics and report tomorrow evening.
Later.

I made the Ride today. There were 80-100 Bikes, and it was unreal. This was my first run with The Patriot Guard, and they are a CLASS ACT!!! I spent some time with the SF guys that were there, the SF guys sorta collected/gathered in one area. BG Repass, his Command and the 3rd Group folks, came over to the "Collection" of FOGs that were present from Chapter 31 here, along with some AD folks that attended, and were most hospitable......I felt like I knew them all!!
So, until I see'ya on that FINAL DZ,..........Jeremy...Hang Tough and we'll see'ya on the other side!!!!!

The PGR have posted a Slide Show of both the escort from Addison Airport to the Funeral Home on the 9th, and the Ceremonies on the 10th. It was a rather damp ride, but the rain quit just before we got to the Cemetary.

RIP Jeremy
Jeremy was with my team last year in Mazzar-e-Sharrif Afghanistan. He was originally sent there to work for and maintain commo links for a Major who was our LNO in the north. They ended up living on my little firebase and I was able to steal Jeremy away from the Major and incorporate him into my team. As far as I was concerned, Jeremy was a member of the team until we all went back to the States.
Jeremy was a great troop! He quickly became one of us and it wasn't until his sudden early departure when he broke his ankle that we all realized that we may not get to work with him again.
I will always be proud to say that I was his first Team Sergeant and his good friend.
RIP Jeremy! God Speed!

This Slide Show was just released with the Family's permission. The Photagraphers, Gary and Theresa, did a remarkable job of documenting this somber occasion. They would ride ahead and get on top of the overpasses to get some of the shots.
The uniformed folks in the first, and several other, shots are Firemen in Dress Uniform from some of the local cities.
There are over 500 slides, you can speed it up to 3 sec. rotation. (Toolbar at the bottom of the pic.)

Take care.
