View Full Version : Clemency denied

Well, Tookie Williams was denied clemency today, which is a good thing.
They are predicting riots now - that's a bad thing.
My house is in a hot hot hot zone of an area with a large chapter of the Crips present. The area got hit hard during the Rodney King riots.
I am not looking forward to the next 48 hours.

Not only did he murder four people in cold blood but you could also argue that the thousands that have died because of the actions of the organization he started should also count against him. If there is justice in the world he will be swimming laps in a lake of buring fire by weeks end.

Terminated.
I'll be in LA tomorrow morning, could get pretty interesting...
I think it's rather audacious that he'd even try for clemency, he killed 4 people. His actions have started gang wars, and he is responsible for the deaths of hundreds, mabye not directly, but had he not created his gang, many might still be alive today and not fueled by such frivolous fighting. He doesn't deserve clemency, no matter how much he tries to attone for what he has done. He was given a sentence and he should accept it like a man and pay what is due. Just my thoughts and opinions.

He was tried by a jury of his peers, and sentenced. Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time.
His prison record has not exactly been exemplary either, including rape and brutalization of other inmates.
25 years of appeals have changed nothing.
All I can say is, BURN, BABY, BURN!! He is getting off lightly, I would prefer to see him die much more slowly and painfully.

Agreed Sir W-M. I'm not poking at anything. Although my friend Sir Mick did call me this afternoon and say "pack the dogs and go to a hotel in _____ (the County next door).... to which I replied, "no no. I'm not abandoning my home... I'm staying". :::exasperated sigh on the other end of the phone::: Followed by ::grumble grumble - you're killin me - :::grumble::: Then a super cool conversation about the best way to proceed based on the layout of my house, and 'Shotgun 101' checks, rechecks, dryfire drills, etc.
Me: But Mick.... I've got 3 mags of hollowpoints loaded for the 9
Mick: Forget the 9. Use the 9 to bludgeon someone if you have to. Or to cover reload on the SG. Think SG. The Remmy is your friend.
Reformed or not, he still killed four people.
As otherse have said here, if you take into account the fact he "co-founded" the crips, he's contributed to far more deaths than four. And he has probably directly committed more than four. Only four could be proven.
Terminate him, yes. And lets hope the "riot" rumors are just that... and that tomorrow morning I will have to be unloading and clearing stuff over my morning cup of coffee, and feeling quite silly.
m1
Nothing silly about being prepared, not having a plan, enough ammo, food or water would be silly.

Look at it like this, most of the people killed in a riot will be bad guys who pick on the wrong people.

If you are actually that close to crip territory, Get out of the area. Playing John Wayne when you are not him can only lead to bad things. One person, even armed to the teeth, can do nothing against a mol. cocktail thrown through your windows. You would suffer the consequences whether you take a few of the scum with you or not!
Risk vs benefit
Remember...Material things... you can replace anything a riot can take from you. You have time to pack, then take the things that mean the most and get out. Your life is worth more than attempting to prove that you are the female equivalent of the Team Sergeant. :D

I could not agree more with Saca Michelle! From the thin blue line's perspective you cannot be assisted expeditiously if we have to fight our way to you. LAPD does not have the personnel to extract everyone who thought they could ride out a riot. Pop smoke and haul ass to a safe zone...NOW!

Need a rifle. Wanna help me go shopping at SHOT TR?
As far as how close I am to Crips territory... I'm in Long Beach.... very large chapter lives here..... I'm, also -15 miles from the edge of Compton.
Sir M's main concern is the "distraction theory". Might not be a threat from the gang faction, but rather the 3 time convicted serial rapist who lives one house down (no I'm not kidding), who might see an "opportunity" that was not otherwise present due to distraction theory. Move in while the PD is otherwise "preoccupied".
So far, all is quiet on the front. I have to wonder if it was all the noise of the SG racking courtesy of Mr. Mick on the phone.
I am no John Wayne. No siree. But there is something really wrong with the idea of my having to leave my HOME because of others. I just wont do it.
As for the fire-threat.... that was first on my mind. I picked up an extinguisher on the way home today.
If I'm going to have "problems" it wont be because I didn't try. Let my obituary say "she fought to the bitter end... crazy girl.... and yes, she thought maybe she could emmulate Team Sergeant in a very small way".
That's SO not such a bad thing. Is it?

I was just down on Crenshaw buying African food for my kid's Kwanzaa celebration in school tomorrow (really!), and the restaurant owner said she's closing her store tomorrow because she's afraid there will be riots. Another customer (who was delighted to see a white guy in that part of town and gave me a long lesson on Kwanzaa, slavery and the origins of soul food -- LOL) told her she shouldn't do that and people should not assume the worst.
I was in the middle of the Rodney King riots when they happened, and I have to tell you that I don't find any of these remarks about riots to be amusing. There are a LOT of very good, law-abiding people who live in the areas that will be affected by riots, and they are the ones who tend to get hurt. Google Clint Bolick or Empower America if you want to read about constructive approaches to inner-city problems.
Michelle, unless you live in the northern part of Long Beach, I don't think you'll be affected if there are riots. PM me if you need anything -- I am the local Area Commander, you know. LOL
P.S. Yes, I think it's stupid that they're doing a Kwanzaa thing in my kid's class, but I try to help with whatever the teachers have planned. No one volunteered to get the food, so someone had to do it.

Sacamuelas, did I pass by your house in Metairie
Stay safe for those living in potentially afflicted areas.
Remember Ms. Michelle: AVOID FU
I am more sicken by the protesting gangstas celebrities than the convict himself. Never into those gangsta rap trend. They're making a fortune out of folks being addicted to drugs, folks killed, raped, etc. etc. I recall someone said once that gangsta rap in particular is a society cancer.

No, but if you had come by my house where I live... I would have given you a bottled water and a folding camp chair to sit down in the shade and relax. The funnier thing is that my lib neighbors from kali put a sign in THERE yard that also said " You loot and (my name) shoots!"

Well, I am happy to report that the most excitement around my house in the last 48 hours was when I cycled the shotgun last night to remove the unspents, and the 12 week old puppy grabbed one of the shells off the floor before I could pick it up. This resulted in 10 minutes of me chasing the little bugger around the house to get it out of his mouth. :p
Tookie's gone. Good riddance.

Glad to hear things remained quiet in Long Beach. I was concerned enough about the unrest possibilities I decided that my scheduled trip to King-Drew and LAC-USC could be postponed.
I remain baffled by people talking on the news about a funeral fitting a head of state and talking about the respect due the recently departed convicted murderer.

Michelle,
Great to see you got by this one. But with the "locals" who surround you and your "special neighbor", sounds like your still on the reservation - so I'd be expectin' a few indian attacks.
