General Kelly's speech was one of the best, most authentic speeches I have heard in a long time. Well spoken and no teleprompter. Straight from the heart.

Job well done, General!

Unfortunately I fear it fell on deaf ears. The press will be back to their scorched earth form of reporting by nightfall. Most if not all of the fine members of the press had no concept or point of reference for what this fine man was saying.

Unfortunate.

I agree. With that said, sometimes getting out there and letting the world know that "you are not their punk" is all the satisfaction you may get. He did that today. I do like the way he referred to her as an empty barrel. She is a tool of the highest order and should be disgraced by anyone who can/could do it. Today...he did it!

Most of what normal Americans say falls on deaf ears of an indoctrinated, bull headed, agenda oriented, leftist press and politicians.

Thank you General Kelly.

So unimaginable that Gen. Kelly should have to relieve his son's death a second time to explain the pain a loving parent might be experiencing. How far has our country fallen...

Very well said Sir!

Spoken from the heart, “the 1%” that many in America these days couldn’t care less for.

Tony...Thank you for posting that, the truth and it's reality can be inspiring. The last few days were the last straw for me with MSM. It was sickening what I read and today I had non of it nor will I for a while, their lies are over the line.

MOO is That Special Operations events should be clandestine and held back from these press vultures, lackey politicians and resisters as they have shown their true agendas and it doesn't include " Duty, Honor, Country". On the contrary they don't even seem to be concerned with their own trade, they conjure snake oil salesmen, carpet baggers, and cynical opportunists, and burn outs in my mind...sad indeed. Trading integrity and honor for imaginary gains even at the cost of their own constituency.

What an eloquent, emotional and heartfelt speech Ret. General Kelly gave. While I was watching him speak, I could not help it, but it just brought tears to my eyes. And it did look like he was holding back his own tears. It had to be so agonizing for him to bring back such memories of his own lose. He spoke from the heart, he spoke as a parent who lost a son in war, and as a General who sent people to fight and die for this Country.

He is correct in his assessment of the how the media, and some people in this country have eroded common decency and respect for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice; either for the sake of politics, or just by being self-serving ungrateful bastards.

He is a professional military man and addressed it as such...and a gold star Dad, and addressed it as such.

Every military person in the audience knew what he meant, knew what he'd say....you just waited for the words.

Those that use an event like this for political advantage are beneath contempt....they are pigs at a political trough and all to common today.

In times past there would have been a public/media outcry of foul...but not today.

What is sacred anymore in our Godless and self centered culture?

Anything?

Exactly, but on an optimistic note: in the current culture war, I see these ass-hats being put or putting themselves in the spotlight. There really is a collective wisdom at work that sees it for what it is. These attacks on our culture by the neo-fascist left will be quashed - I can feel it coming.

We watch Taking Chance every Memorial Day. Readjusts perspective.

solid movie esp after reading the actual testimony of the officer

So why were they there? They're there working with partners, local -- all across Africa -- in this case, Niger -- working with partners, teaching them how to be better soldiers; teaching them how to respect human rights; teaching them how to fight ISIS so that we don't have to send our soldiers and Marines there in their thousands. That's what they were doing there.

This.

I believe this to the heart, and am willing to pay the ultimate price to be part of it.
Did critical care rotation at BAMC trauma ICU and burn center. Worked with multiple amputees with 40% burn and so on. Met their wife, children, parents everyday. The memories still haunt me :(
That is why I wholeheartedly believe in jedburg/OSW/4th Battallion missions. That is why out of my own resources I sponsor foreign exchange students at SWCS.

They go, that others may live.

Bravo Zulu, GEN Kelly

Sadly, I don't think there were many (any?) of them present. Did you note how long it took for someone that 'knew' a Gold Star family to ask the first question? Then, after the 1st question, there were suddenly several folks that 'remembered' they knew a GS family so they could ask a question. I only wish GEN Kelly required that these reporters state the name of the GS folks they knew, putting them on the spot and exposing that they were lying to get the chance to ask a question.

For whoever thought this speech wasn't going to be heard, it's the only thing in the news. Of course the MSN can't help but trip over themselves to support the "empty barrel" (crazy bitch from FL) and laud Gen. Kelly, while simultaneously berating President Trump, one thing is constant.

The reason for all this debauchery and lack of compassion is...wait for it...

All President Trumps fault!

Sound familiar? (Probably a reason GW Bush felt compelled to leave the ranch and side with Democrats recently about globalization, isolationism and white supremacy.) (Looks like hypocrisy and bigotry to me) (Next thing you know he's gonna be hanging out with the Klintons and Obamer) Hey George, good job!

Wait, weren't these guys in places we haven't traditionally been to, to help restore peace and tranquility to a ravaged African country? You know, one of those places the last American president turned a blind eye to for eight years.

One thing that puzzles me about the media and this unfortunate situation. Well, actually it pisses me off, by the time SGT La David Johnson, gets buried, he's going to have finished the Q-Course, been awarded a Green Beret and posthumously promoted to SGM. I'm sorry, do some fact checking; everyone from FL (D) Frankenstein "Cowgirl" Wilson, to every reporter working as a journalist. Can't a "guy" just be remembered for the sacrifice he made?

Sorry but, SGT Johnson, you are not a Special Forces Green Beret, you did honorably serve your country and died for a cause greater than yourself. For that I hope your shallow family and the people they call "friends" can let you finally Rest In Peace and let this country grieve for you and your loved ones the way it should. With honor and dignity.

So now it looks as if the neo-fascist leftists are attacking GEN Kelly for calling out Congresswoman Wilson and referring to her as an empty barrel in reference to her antics at the FBI building dedication in Miami.

Typical rejoinder from these empty suites/empty barrels and immediately playing the race card.

Methinks this could be their Waterloo and a bridge too far.

Guess I should have posted that here...oh well, cross thread points anyway? :p

Why in God's name did his mother think it was appropriate to allow a congresscritter to sit on a private condolence telephone call from the President of the Untied States? I feel for her loss, but to allow your sons death to be used as a political weapon is appalling. Is this what we've come to as a nation?

why would the POTUS involve Congress? The call was obviously ore coordinated...how far in advance , minutes? dhours? days? Who knows? The Congressbitch was there either by chance or at the invite of the NOK. The NOK permitted her to listen in. And IMO, as befitting any race-baiting hustler, she saw this as a great target of opportunity.
