View Full Version : Football foul
If this crime happened to my son on the field, someone might have a couple of sucking chest wounds from a 9mm!

Well look at some of the role models that these kids have to look up to in the NFL. A lifetime ban from HS sports would be a good start in dealing with these thugs.

At least with Football. School Districts need to send a message.
But like everything with schools, But my kid XXXYYZZ and "RACE" comes into play. Just as the one of the two football players taking out the Ref.

Totally agree. No business playing HS football ever again.

I'm in San Antonio where the kids from John Jay speared the ref just north of us in Marble Falls. The reputation of SATX HS football is forever tarnished, IMO. Now they will all need to play nice to show the world they are not brutes. And for that they chances for a title just went from slim to none.

Jail time would be a great start for the thug, assault with a weapon, and attempted murder.

I actually coached a varsity soccer match (the head coach had to be out of town, and I as the assistant was tagged to coach against one of our fiercest rivals. What couldl possibly go wrong?) where one of my players knocked over a referee. Immediate red card of course, and the police were called in. He gave every reason...he was taking care of his teammate who the ref had screwed over, the other team was cheapshotting and nothing was being said, etc. The police didn't arrest him, but he was banned from the team, expelled from school, and took a very long time to get back on his feet.
The sport is just a tool to teach (or reveal) character. With one idiotic decision, that young football player has thrown away every second of hard work he put into his craft. The same thing happens in life. One bad choice can erase every good choice we've ever made.
Choices mean everything.

I cannot concur enough. It reminded me of one of the first things one of my journeymen taught me that most kids today that I work with have no concept. One Oh shit erases a thousand attaboys.
