Anybody want to bet John Kerry gets the Nobel Peace Prize for this disaster?

It would have been interesting to see the vote turn out back in 2012 if Obama's campaign mentioned he wanted a nuclear backed Iran. He probably did at some point but his drone supporters & media could have cared less.

I still don't get what the US has to gain from this and why it's being done.

Anybody want to bet John Kerry gets the Nobel Peace Prize for this disaster?I will not throw the bones with you. Such contemplation is obviously way "too nuanced" for this simple peasant.

..I'm sure that barry will find a way to get him the so well deserved CMH as well as all other awards the US can possibly give and at the very least nominate him for any and all awards the UN can give.

I'd put this in pink but I just can't ..I know I know ..tin foil too tight

As with most things it's about the money!

The best explanation that I have heard is that the international sanctions coalition was falling apart. International bankers were losing (not making) money because of the embargos. There is just so long that they will tolerate that and we may have seen their patience waning.

If that was the case, the only option left would be to strike a deal that slow rolls the Iranian nuclear program rather than let the sanction coalition fall apart of its own accord. Something is better than nothing.

The fact that Iran's ability to re-enter the arms trade arena was put into the agreement at the last minute suggests to me that this explanation is correct.

After all Germany and France have to make up the $96 Billion that went to Greece from somewhere don't they.

In the end it's always about the money now isn't it. ;)

Maybe he will throw it over the White House fence like he did with the other ones he never really earned.

President Obama To Visit Durant On Wednesday
Posted: Jul 15, 2015 7:36 AM CDT Updated: Jul 15, 2015 9:03 AM CDT

DURANT, Oklahoma -
President Barack Obama will travel to Durant, Oklahoma, Wednesday afternoon to visit the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, and to talk about expanding economic opportunity.

President Obama will arrive at North Texas Regional Airport at about 4:20 p.m. He will then travel to Durant High School to deliver remarks on expanding economic opportunity for communities across the country, including the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, White House officials said.

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is headquartered in Durant. The Tribe serves as the overall governmental hub for state and federal services to all of that region’s residents. The Choctaw Nation serves 11 rural counties (11,734 square miles) within its tribal territory. This is the second largest tribal service area in the lower 48 states, and the largest "Promise Zone" area.

If the Choctaw Nation was smart and really wanted economic opportunity, they would embark on a nuclear program and the appeasers would send trainloads of cash.

So Obama states that this can only be dealt with politically or by war. He won't go to war so the American public will suffer by his ineptness which he will blame on everyone else.

Kaplan's interesting pol-mil perception.

What worries these critics most is not that Iran might enrich its uranium into an A-bomb. (If that were the case, why would they so virulently oppose a deal that put off this prospect by more than a decade?) No, what worries them much more deeply is that Iran might rejoin the community of nations, possibly even as a diplomatic (and eventually trading) partner of the United States and Europe.

And so it goes...

If the region was going to race for the Bomb they would have started the process 20 months ago when the interim deal was signed.

Iran has the largest biotechnical/tech industry in the middle east next to Israel. Why would Israel/UAE/Saudi want to allow a regional power back into the global market when it would detract from their shares?

Pretty interesting interview with Benjamin Netanyahu.

Americans just don't understand what an existential threat is. Israelis wake up with it everyday.

I worry that, by the time D.C. again determines that Iran is an enemy nation, our nation will be too soft to do anything about it. Israel would be a damned country of fools to trust Obama.

ISSUE ONE:

Remember the treaty on conventional forces in Europe?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_on_Conventional_Armed_Forces_in_Europe

It was big news in 1990, and among the more noteworthy provisions of the treaty was the ability of NATO and the (then) Warsaw Pact to literally drive -- or in some case fly by helicopter -- with little warning onto the military bases of the other side and demand to look into buildings, factories, warehouses, gyms, almost any building with a door more than ten feet wide, and look for tanks, APC's, artillery, rocket launchers, etc. It was the most intrusive and bulletproof inspection and verification protocols ever devised. (Which is probably why earlier this year, with ZERO public notice, the Russians renounced the treaty).

But the point is: a treaty in the form of "I promise I won't ..." is meaningless without strict full unannounced intrusive inspection protocols. And the Iran nuclear treaty doesn't have anywhere near enough inspection provisions.

Somewhat related. See the photograph below. It's from Davis-Monthan AFB, the "grave yard" of American military aircraft. Q. Why are the B-52 (nuclear bombers) sitting there chopped up, with the broken-off wings, noses and tails neatly displayed next to the mutilated airframe? A. So the Russians can use any satellite image to insure that they were rendered non-flyable. That's a requirement under the SALT (Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty).

Trust, but verify, said President Reagan.

For Iran, I would say "Don't trust, and damn well verify."

ISSUE TWO:

The United States, and the other six nations on our side of the Iran nuclear deal agree to lift sanctions.

Now the Iranians can withdraw money from banks; land their tankers, merchant ships, and aircraft in other countries. Look at the treaty, at least half of the text is a listing of every Iranian corporation that does business overseas, every Iranian airliner, every Iranian cargo ship by name and registry number. They are all legal now.

In fact, expect Irainan caviar and pistachio nuts to soon appear at a food store near you. I am not making this up, see Clause 5.1.3, at page 67 of the text of the treaty below.

So, I ask. What happens if Iran donates SAM equipment to a terrorist organization for destroying civilian airliners? Or smuggles another cargo of weapons into Gaza (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Affair).

If the signatory nations, especially the United States, impose sanctions on the Iranians, WE are in violation of the treaty, and give Iran the green light for nuclear weapon development.

It looks to me that the Iranians have bought freedom of maneuver from allied sanctions for the next 10-15 years, provided they don't get caught working on unauthorized nuclear weapon research or development, a goal they may or may not have had anyway.

They get relief from multi-billion dollar sanctions, for the next 10-15 years. We get pistachio nuts.

Oh, and by the way, there is some good news.

Expect to Iranians to flood the market with every drop of oil they can sell.

I'm predicting gasoline below $2.00 a gallon by the end of the year.

Let's better ensure peace by sending more weapons into the region.

LINK (http://freebeacon.com/national-security/kerry-promises-israel-saudis-money-in-wake-of-iran-nuclear-deal/)

Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday moved to reassure Congress that Israel and America’s Gulf State allies would be fully taken care of in the wake of the Iran nuclear deal, which Kerry acknowledged would not stop Iran’s support for terrorism, according to a letter sent by the secretary of state to lawmakers.

Just moments after the White House secured enough votes to override a congressional veto of the Iran deal, a letter from Kerry appeared in the inboxes of congressional offices across Capitol Hill.

Kerry admits that, despite the deal, Iran will continue to back terrorist groups across the globe and promises to boost military support and funding to Israel and Gulf states such as Saudi Arabia, according to a copy of the letter obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
