Talk about a war crime. The partisan warfare that took place in the border states during the Civil War was some cruel activity. Quantrill and Anderson were ruthless bastards who both died young and violently. They got what they deserved.

#$%## Jayhawkers were just as bad. Lane was a drunk and died a drunks death. As a side note--Frank James and the Younger' brothers rode with Quantrill. However, when a Union officer made a mistake of insulting him, and he beat said officer senseless, there was no turning back for him. Cole and Frank were best friends. Cole really didn't like Jesse but tolerated him because of Frank. My understanding is to this day in a judges office in Platte City , MO, there is a picture of Lawrence after the raid. T he engraved caption below reads, "MU 187--KU 0.
