View Full Version : Final Chance to Stop the Gang of 8
This is the crux of the climb out of a huge slime pit or the slide to the bottom. If the dems get their way on immigration, they'll run this Country for decades (or for as long as it lasts).
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/06/14/Final-Chance-to-Stop-the-Gang-of-8
This week an overwhelming number of United States Senators decided to move forward with debate on the flawed immigration reform package supported by the Gang of Eight, known on Capitol Hill as S. 744.
History very well might be repeating itself. Like with the disastrous immigration reform laws passed in 1986, the Gang of Eight’s 900-page piece of legislation does not cure the epidemic of illegal immigration. By the way, has anyone actually read the entire bill?
I have come to realize that when Senator Charles Schumer talks about the need for "comprehensive" immigration reform, what he really means is it should be stuffed with an enormous pile of expensive requests from various interest groups to ensure final passage. The bill is an insult to the American legal system, which is why Senator Marco Rubio is indicating he may ultimately renounce his own bill. In its current form, the bill is such a monstrosity that even its staunchest advocates may end up rejecting it.
The bill would almost immediately grant amnesty to individuals who entered our country illegally, allowing them to live and work in the United States without penalty. Because of the time restrictions, those who have broken America's laws would get to jump to the head of the line, in front of millions who are waiting to enter the country legally, while weakening our national security and costing the country trillions of dollars.
One of the most irresponsible provisions of the bill funnels money to community organizers to help guide illegal immigrants through the process of receiving government entitlements and eventual citizenship. If this doesn't sound familiar to you, it should, as these are the same community organizers who will be hired for Obamacare as "navigators" to help people maximize their benefits in the unworkable healthcare law. This process of outsourcing services away from government workers means there will be less accountability. I am suspicious that their objective will be to register as many new Democrats as possible.
This trend of outsourcing services also comes from the non-profit 501c3 entity the bill proposes to create--known as the United States Citizenship Foundation. It will be run by a select few members of various special interest groups, such as the radical group La Raza, and allows them to take over the process currently run by the Department of Homeland Security to teach newly illegal immigrants about American history, the political process, and the Constitution. Again, this outsourcing is by design, as it limits accountability and oversight.
It is impossible to collect back taxes from illegal immigrants, as many gained employment through fake social security numbers or are paid under the table. Yet this weak tax requirement is being championed disingenuously by the bill proponents. Because this bill quickly puts green cards in the hands of law breakers, these same newly legalized immigrants will qualify for Social Security and Medicare, and will receive coverage under Obamacare. The cost to provide Obamacare coverage alone, according to the Congressional Budget Office, will be $9,000 per new citizen each year, which is a conservative estimate.
The bill also places heavy restrictions on interior enforcement of the immigration law, handcuffing law enforcement officials while giving unchecked authority to the Obama Administration to prevent the removal of illegal immigrants, even those who commit violent offenses and are currently in prison. In addition, the bill does nothing to correct the limitations placed on an underfunded Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office by the Obama Administration to investigate the millions of immigrants who overstay their visas.
Finally, the bill does not include support for the long-promised border fence. Instead, it only requires Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to "establish a strategy" about where fencing should be deployed. As we know, any plan that doesn't complete the 700-miles of double fencing is worthless, but the bill makes it easy for the Obama Administration to completely ignore future construction, while the Administration monitors itself in enforcing current immigration law.
If the current immigration bill passes the Senate, it will be up to the House of Representatives to fix the mess. Republicans in the House should break up the issues into smaller bills, with a focus on protecting our border and enforcing existing laws first. Only then should Congress turn its attention to workplace security and improving America's immigration system. There is no question our immigration system is broken, but the Gang of Eight’s costly blanket amnesty bill must be stopped.

I brought this up to a friend yesterday, and he was completely in the dark. Now, he is a Union welder and was beside himself as I laid this out. The leadership at his Local has been silent on this, as National Union leadership has been supportive of this>>> More Union members and more Democrats to vote for what they want.
Our Nation, our way of life is being taken away, and there are many in the Media, Labor, and even many we called our "Allies" in politics that are changing America for the worse.
Thanks for sharing.

I've done a lot of thinking about the subject of this thread, and for some reason, immigration is being discussed in the "Venezuelan gun control" thread.
This is turning out to be the most complicated and stickiest political subject Conservatives have a direct influence on.
Democrats want more voters....
And big business Republicans want more low wage workers........
This is going to hammer black employment.......
This is going to hammer wages for low skill workers - as if Obamacare isn't.
So the Democratic base is going to be hammered........
And the little to mid range folks paying taxes are going to be hammered......
But it will pass because of the elites in Washington who want it to be so.
I've done a lot of thinking about the subject of this thread, and for some reason, immigration is being discussed in the "Venezuelan gun control" thread.
D,
Post # 12 in the "Venezuelan gun control" thread mentioned Jeb Bush and immigration and a number of comments on immigration ensued.
Maybe, if the current immigration bill passes - our political elite - will more readily relate to Venezuela and their ideas of gun control. No pink.
Sent both of my Senators an e-mail, but they are Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. Not much to worry about there.
Burr from NC is a Big Business Republican - he'll crawl over broken glass to vote for it - along with what's her name, the D Senator.
The house will pass a tough bill and it will go into reconciliation with the Senate bill. The fix is in - all the tough items will be removed, more pork and fluff added and the D's and big business R's will pass it to thunderous something or other.
We're screwed.

More to the point, if they pass amnesty the Dems will likely have free reign to impose any restriction or confiscation (Example: Firearms) on the general public as they see fit just as Chavez did. The only thing that has prevented Superfly from ramming Gun Control down our throats is he doesn't have the votes. If they pass amnesty the Dems will rule the roost in short order.
If Uncle Jeb and Da Boyz think they will ride the amnesty tide and then control aftermath they have rocks in their heads......kind of like giving arms to AQ with the idea that you will have control of the situation.
I believe one thing is for sure, sooner or later this will result in serious repercussion for both parties.
Am-nasty...didn't we try this before?
Oh, but now we funnel funds to community organizers...that ought to make things better.
What a CF.

I hear you.
But, this Am-nasty is a bitter pill and a slap in the face to those folks that have gone the legal route.
I'd prefer we take the offensive and pass some common sense legislation (in multiple areas) in the House and send to Senate for them to reject.

That's exactly what the dems want. The bill dies, and gives 'em slander fodder for 2016.
This is dem chess, and we keep getting checked because we keep moving right into the kill zone of their gambits.
We're gonna get less than thirty percent of the latin vote and virtually none of the african vote, no matter what we do. We will get more people off their asses and down to the polls if we don't get played as racists in the 2016 runup. We don't need 3 more percentage points from the minority voters, we need those 8 million illiberal scumbags who refused to vote last time to pull the toggle.
These illegals are never going to get pushed back across the border. We should take a hit, minimize the propaganda, get the Senate in 2014, and take it all back in 2016.
There will be enough trouble if Hillary runs, anyway. Name me 5 women you know who won't vote openly or secretly for a female POTUS, Tony.

I disagree.
If this bill passes in its current state, the Republican party is going to be out in the cold for at least decades, if not a century or more.
We will not only not gain the Senate, but will lose the House and the state houses that we recently won.
Hell, I suspect that if this passes, a significant number of conservative Republicans will give up or switch parties.

D,
That is very high stakes queen sacrifice - can we survive such a hit?
Will more piss poor legislation really benefit the nation?
At a minimum, if Am-nasty really is a done deal - the legislation described in the OP needs significant modification.
Hillary has an acknowledged following but alienates a large group of folks, too. Bengahzi, the 3:00 a.m. phone call, what does it matter and sniper fire should give her some trouble in a national election.
Dusty,
Considering the definition of Racism is ever evolving I don't know if that battle can be won. In all seriousness there are places where asking for 'Black' coffee is deemed offensive and people give you strange looks, 5-10 more years referencing 'Black' will warrant a DOJ investigation.

We won't-ever-if we don't play the dem game better than they do.

Reading this thread, several other threads here at PS, plus some private conversations (face-to-face without No Such Agency), I have to believe the Rs and Ds in power are simply of the same blood. Political Elites and Business Elites, et al, that want to have a Socialist State.
Many of the Rs are in favor of this, as they see this passing and forever changing the political landscape in America. They see complete Democratic Party control for decades, which will bring many changes to bring the Socialists and Progressive ideals into full power. These Rs want to have a seat at the table in the future, and they are helping push the new Nationalist government ahead.
The recent SCOTUS rulings further prove this in the manner that what many thought to be a Conservative Justice appears to be nothing more than a Nationalist. I wonder what NSA and the Current Administration has on him?
This just didn't happen, as Progressives have been pushing their agenda for generations, but they finally have an Administration that stopped hiding behind the smoke and mirrors.
One article says it simply:
Tyranny Advances by Nibbles
Here, the exploratory nibbles have become extremely ambitious through the past four-plus years until now they've escalated to bloody chunks. But there were warnings. Only four months after Obama's inauguration, the Department of Homeland Security issued a "threat assessment" fingering "rightwing extremism" as a danger to the nation. Remember? This official warning to law enforcement officials says "rightwing extremism in the United States" includes groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority, and "may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as immigration or abortion."

"NEW AND IMPROVED tougher border security claims...yet so gentle you can get away with them even when you need to fake caring about the situation."

They keep saying that "immigration is broken". But it is only broken because the same politicians saying this don't enforce the laws we have already. So, we are supposed to belive that this time, with an even more complex law than before, we are supposed to believe that it will get fixed. They are so transparently stupid that it is insulting.
VDH thought the following article worthy of posting on his page.
The Senate Immigration Bill: Another Legislative Disaster
Posted on June 25, 2013
by Bruce S. Thornton
FrontPage Magazine
The “comprehensive immigration reform” bill cooked up by the Senate has a decided Obamacare stink to it. Like that disaster, the immigration bill is rushing to solve a whole host of complex problems with a massive, muddled bill few Senators will have the time or inclination to read in its entirety, with the same plethora of unforeseen expensive consequences, all perfumed with the same dubious CBO estimates of money saved and revenue increased. No more encouraging is the similar political bum’s rush being given to anybody––i.e. House Republicans––who dares to suggest some due diligence and prudence might be in order.
This unseemly haste should raise our suspicions. So too should be the deceiving rhetoric and incoherence lacing the arguments from supporters. Most egregious is the outrageous failure to discriminate between legal and illegal immigration. These are separate issues, but the Gang of Eight amnestistas collapse them together for tactical reasons. They can evoke all the sentimental, Emma Lazarus “nation of immigrants” rhetoric to sell their legislation, hiding the social dysfunctions and massive expenses caused by illegal immigration behind feel-good stories of plucky legal immigrants creating new industries and enriching American identity. Anyone who brings up those costs of illegal immigration will then be demonized as “anti-immigrant,” “xenophobes,” “nativists,” or “racists,” all question-begging epithets designed to avoid the current legislation’s failure to address any of those costs.
Then there is the bathetic rhetoric about illegal aliens that also deflects our attention from those costs. John McCain waxed hysterical in the Senate not long ago as he decried the fact that illegals had to “live in the shadows.” What can he possibly mean by that? That they can’t work, attend school, run businesses, obtain EBT cards, shop at malls, visit hospital emergency rooms, be protected by the police, or buy cars and flat-screen televisions? They do all these things and more, so how dark can those “shadows” be? Indeed, in states like California––home to the largest number of illegal aliens, 2.5 million––state law has invited them to live as openly as anybody else. A few years ago, the student body president of Fresno State was an illegal alien who flaunted his status at various “Dream Act” rallies. Not even wrecking a car while driving under the influence cast him into the “shadows.”
McCain went on to decry how illegal aliens are “exploited.” Let’s see, they risk their lives crossing scorching deserts, at the tender mercies of the criminals transporting them, so they can be “exploited”? That’s some exploitation that allows you freedom, access to government services, free emergency-room health care, and enough economic opportunity to allow illegal Mexican immigrants to send about $10 billion back to Mexico every year. They left Mexico in the first place to avoid the real exploitation caused by a corrupt government, endemic violence, and a culture of stratified social hierarchies that make economic and social advancement difficult.
Worst of all is the demand that there be a “path to citizenship.” Why? Why can’t illegal aliens be given a legal status that removes the threat of deportation but does not grant them the privileges of U.S. citizenship they did not earn the way legal immigrants do? My wife’s grandfather, a Volga German who emigrated from Russia, never became a citizen. He did all right. I know why the Democrats are demanding citizenship. They will reap millions of voters and millions of new clients for their welfare-dependency industry. But what do Republicans think they’ll get?
I remember––they think that these “hard-working, family values, religious” illegal aliens are “natural” Republicans and will vote conservative once the GOP shows how much they love them. This is delusional. These new voters will vote Democratic, because the Democrats cater to their interests. And simply repeating the “hard-working, family values, religious” mantra isn’t going to make it true. Not because there aren’t illegal aliens who have those qualities. I’ve personally known more that do have them than all the Gang of Eight put together. The point is, the amnestistas and their legislation do not codify a workable mechanism for sorting out which do and which do not. Citizenship will be granted indiscriminately, with only the most egregious felons sifted out. And even then, only felons stupid enough to apply for amnesty will get caught. The rest will just keep on living as they already are. All the rest, including those who have 2 DUI’s or have illegally received welfare benefits, will get to become citizens, and then start bringing their extended families along for the ride.
That’s because the enforcement provisions of this bill are moonshine. If the feds were interested in sorting the illegal wheat from the chaff, they would have been doing it already, and every illegal alien in an American penitentiary would have long ago been shipped back to their home countries. E-verify would already be universal, and businesses that hire undocumented workers would be prosecuted. If they really wanted to secure the border, they would have done it already. The fact is, this legislation is about specific present benefits bought with vague future promises to make illegal aliens “go to the back of the line” in order to become citizens. Living in the U.S. is not the “back of the line.” Going back to Mexico is. Ask those aspiring to become Americans who have been waiting decades for legal entry where they think the “back of the line” is.
This bill if passed will guarantee that 30 years from now we’ll still have an illegal alien problem. When the last amnesty passed in 1986, there were 3 million illegal aliens. Now we have 11 million. Just what in the current bill protects against that moral hazard? Once again a bunch of elites insulated from the consequences of their legislative malfeasance are passing the costs of their political and economic self-interests onto others.

I have mentioned before that I was thrown out of Mexico for working without an FM3 Visa, our green card equivalent, so there is no sympathy from me. This legislation will do nothing for the Republican Party. Most illegals come from socialist countries. They have the expectation that the government will provide for them. Allegedly, this legislation will make them ineligible for federal welfare programs. They don't mention anything about state welfare programs. Since Obama has been president, welfare rolls have grown from 32 million recipients to 47 million. This bill will add another 12-15 million plus their dependents to state welfare rolls, plus school, medical, etc. They will never vote Republican.
I vote for sending them home.

The bill should require a 1 for 1 exchange of poor people with regard to illegals. That way we can weaken their collective gene pools as well.

VDH is very bright and almost a lone voice of sanity in California. I remember the last comprehensive Immigration Bill when the Senate and the House lied to Regan and lied to the citizens and they are doing it again. Can John McCain be so stupid as to support this again? Remember he was there the last time. and the Senate is lieing again. The only thing between this new disaster and the people is the House and this time I think they will hold the line at least until the 2014 elections.Congress has the power to define what the 14th Ammendment means and unless they limit Natural Born Citizenship to people legally here we will continue to face invasions forever. I don't think the current Congress has the huevos to do this and I know the President will not sign it into law but is should be done now.
The only rational action would be to send all illegal aliens home every time with no exceptions, but that will not happen.
The only rational action would be to send all illegal aliens home every time with no exceptions, but that will not happen.
I think that disincentives would work. Everyone caught here trespassing will be given a progressive jail sentence. The first time you are caught here - 90 days; second 180 days, third 360 and so on. Time will be served by helping to secure our borders. Digging. Digging a moat. On the Alaskan-Canadian border!

There is a fertility gap between conservatives and liberals.
Liberals don't breed enough, so they are trying to close the gap by importing voters.
(There are also all manner of indoctrination efforts aimed at mitigating their problem, but that's another subject.)
Immigration can help conservatives eventually, but the welfare state must first be allowed to collapse.
Immigration can help conservatives eventually, but the welfare state must first be allowed to collapse.
That's why 2014 is so unbelievably important; the welfare state can only thrive under lib "leadership".
Where I live, it's still considered normal to have a close-knit family (no incest jokes, please). Heather only has one daddy. Jesus isn't something you say when you burn your thumb on the skillet.
I sympathize with anyone directly influenced by the insane antics of the "progressives", while thumbing my nose at any idiot who helped allow this debacle to happen last November.
Look at what all the 3-letter agencies do (along with the SCOTUS), with virtual impunity.
If we don't look at the 2014 Congressionals and the 2016 election as the most important in the history of the US, we're fiddling with Nero.
