"Made in Kansas"

The next few years are going to be interesting.

A personal firearm, a firearm accessory or ammunition that
is owned or manufactured commercially or privately in Kansas and that
remains within the borders of Kansas is not subject to any federal law,
treaty, federal regulation, or federal executive action, including any federal
firearm or ammunition registration program, under the authority of
congress to regulate interstate commerce. It is declared by the legislature
that those items have not traveled in interstate commerce. This section
applies to a firearm, a firearm accessory or ammunition that is owned or
manufactured in the state of Kansas.

If I read it correctly and if it passes, a Kansas resident will be able to purchase a 'Made in Kansas' SBR, SBS or Suppressor without going through NFA.

If I remember correctly, something similar was tried when the last Black Weapon Ban was enacted.. not sure it every made prime time?? :munchin

I believe Montana also did this a few years ago. I like that in the bill it lists just about every part that Frankenstien's bill would ban and makes it legal in Kansas. As long as you had a lower when a federal ban took effect, you could have a class 7 FFL assemble your rifle and it would be legal. It seems odd that Sec. 9 of the bill was scratched. That section stated that no doctors, other than psychiatrists, could ask about firearms in the home prior to providing treatment.

It probably has to do with the first amendment. While doctors shouldn't be forced to ask such questions, preventing them from asking such things could be viewed as unconstitutional.
