Why is this being permitted to happen?

...these were dangerous assault weapons with illegal pistol grips on them

illegal pistol grips

Not "legal" pistol grips...
...ILLEGAL pistol grips

What would happen if someones kids came in contact with one of those pistols grips?
...one minutes the kid is in school, enjoying a small, sugar free soft drink reading about how to use condoms, and the next moment, he could be face to face with an illegal pistol grip !!!

Don't anyone 'get it' ???

THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!

Time for jury nullification.

Based on the news report, this guy isn't too 'bright'...

Did the cosmetic modifications really change the function of the rifle?

Is it in any way more dangerous with a collapsible stock, pistol grip, or bayonet lug?

I guess scaring libs is a criminal offense now.

...these were dangerous assault weapons with illegal pistol grips on...

Last week I was watching a weekly on TV about the DEA. The series is filmed in Detroit. During the execution of a search warrant, they located a shotgun with pistol grips on it. While explaining everything that was found within the residence, they described the shotgun as being an "assault weapon". This was a veteran PD officer calling it an "assault weapon".

It appears that everyone is getting on the bandwagon and calling anything with a pistol grip -- other than a pistol -- an assault weapon.

Truly sad!

FWIW - I've never seen a shotgun with "pistol grips" considered useful for anything but an "assault" scenario.

However, I may be wrong - and so it goes...

Richard, my shotguns have pistol grips on them. Both my smoothbore and my slug gun. It isn't to enhance them to "assault weapon" status, (my slug gun came with a pistol grip built into the stock) it's simply because after so many years working an M4 on the range shooting anything without a pistol grip just feels weird. What can I say, that's my shooter preference.

The shotgun I am talking about had a full length butt stock and a regular length barrel with no additional add-ons. It simply had a pistol grip on it. I have seen them used for hunting on a regular basis.

I may have left the impression that it only had a pistol grip on it and not the butt stock.

I'm only talking 'perception' and what's being 'marketed'...go look at the ads.

'Perception' becomes 'reality' in these types of issues.

My Winchester Model 25 doesn't have any "pistol grips" - don't need 'em, don't want 'em, either. Works just as well w/o them...and nobody 'perceives' me or my shotgun to be any sort of 'assault' weapon. Their mistake; not mine.

And so it goes...

And none of mine will become "illegal" although they may become "undocumented" :D

Uh, oh. I see lawsuits ahead. They are going to find some veterans to sue because M-4s and other pistol grip equipped weapons are not "ergonomically correct" and create "rifleman's syndrome".

I wish I could put that in pink.

Banter about pistol grips aside, are we relinquishing another state from our union?
Jury nullification? Just grind them down with a long and expensive legal process; life ruining.

It is a shame to see so many here that are ok with this, and if not, choose to act with cynicism.

All else being said and whether one agrees with all the provisions of the NY Safe Act Law or not, it seems to me as if he (1) knowingly broke the law in a for profit endeavor and (2) knowingly sold a weapon to someone he thought was a felon and prohibited from possessing a weapon.

Whether it was his intention or not, the 'good ex-Marine' made himself the 'poster boy' for the State of NY to seek to uphold their recently enacted law, and will be an interesting case to follow to conclusion.

That law is obviously working. Look at all the scary dangerous veterans that are being taken off the streets! Every New Yorker should be proud...

I'll never spend another penny in New York as long as I live. I'm close to the border, and used to frequent Hoseheads Mall, and even bought the wife's car in NY. Not another penny.

That "Good Marine" should have practiced better SA. Whether you agree with the NY Safe Act or not, we should not be doing anything to draw us into their focus.

Depending on what my duties for the day are, I may or may not have hollow point ammunition. Nuclear Security - YEP, as it is under Federal jurisdiction. PSD in NJ or NY that is NOT Nuke related - NOPE. Even if it is authorised, we have worked on the side of caution for NYC assignments.

NYPD isn't as forgiving as other Agencies, so I do not carry a weapon with HP rounds into NYC. Even if you are right, the legal fees alone can ruin a person. Then you enter the parallel dimension of firearms violation(s) and how that affects continued and future employment.

Your opinion, not mine.

If you pass an unconstitutional law making us criminals then it's time to take a stand or go out on your knees.

Thank You TS, I'm tired of the banter of trying to rationalize the commies and their manifesto. We're frogs in the boiling water. Time to hop out.

TS,

You are correct. Unfortunately, working up here in the middle of Socialist NYC and NJ, we've seen guys hammered by the bosses for voicing their opinion. One person was already suspended and under investigation, with the reason being he OWNS mulitple firearms. Pretty disgusting, as the bosses should have stepped in and set everyone straight. Instead, they have become just another pawn for the anti-gun crowd.

The day-to-day perception up here is a lot different than AZ, courtesy of the media. PA has remained a solid gun-rights place to live, but the Philly and large metropolitan politicians are crafting bills to reduce our rights and protections. Wife and I have already discussed moving out of PA, if things became like NJ or NYC. It has generated some blow-back against the politicians, but they do not care. So far, we're holding our own, and then some.

Besides, if we do not stand up for our rights, no one will. After living in Europe for a few years, I will never be in a position where I do not have the right to defend myself or protect my family. No tin foil hat, but plenty of lead in tin boxes.

It's time for decent people to get the hell out of New York, New Jersey etc. Your voting and activism will do no good there. Your hard work just supports the Beast. You may have to go there to work, but you don't have to live there. Find a new gig and new digs. You'll make half the money down South, but it takes about half the money to live. Nothing good has come out of New York in 150 years---that is, until you leave with your hard-working family and friends...

I normally don't post much...but this is worth saying something about....GTFO of Bloomyland....
