On Feb. 26, the Phoenix City Council passed the so-called "Bathroom Bill," which will allow not only "transgendered" men, but also any man who thinks he is a woman to use many of the same public restrooms that women and young girls use.

The bill, which passed 5-3, is a sterling example of how a mayor and city council can quickly forego their duty to protect women and children in order to win the praise and support of special-interest groups in the community.

While opening the women's bathroom door to "transgendered" individuals and men who claim to be women, the new rules unwittingly provide a sterling opportunity for sexual predators to avail themselves of a target-rich environment.

Unbelievable. What a messed up society we are fast becoming. I knew we were in the crapper when supplier diversity now recognizes gay/lesbian/transgender as a class.. I mean really sexual identity is now a part of supplier diversity... LOL

I guess we wait for the first child to be raped by a predator in a "female" bathroom and the city of Phoenix sued for such a ludicrous law. With six million living the valley should not take long.

My aunt is a psychologist that has worked with GLBT people for more than 30 years. The stories I've heard are all so depressing - their sexual confusion and extreme mental/emotional anguish etc.

I can see some people wanting to help them be better adjusted, but I don't understand the point of making 99.7% of the population uncomfortable, or outright endangered, in order to accommodate 0.3% that are transgendered.

Why would a child be alone in a public restroom?

This was the first thing that came to mind. We had an incident in a local restaturant where a pedophile followed a young girl into the restroom of a restaurant and raped her then took off - and he wasn't invited into the restroom like what's happening in Phoenix.

Have everyone build a third bathroom. Label it as GLBT and problem solved. Why should others be put in a position like this.

Yes I know this would be a financial burden for the buisness. But in our continuing downward spiral of our morals and values that is the cost.

This PC crap is getting totally out of control. This whole gun control debate started on the pretense of keeping children safe, and now put them at risk to satisfy some PC agenda. If I were a parent in that city I would be calling for the mayor's removal from office

It was never about guns, it's about control.

It was never about human rights, it's about control.

Anybody here ever live in Europe? In many places, you go into a bathroom; queue up with the men, women, and kids; and then go in and use the toilet when one is available while everyone stands around waiting in the room with the sign that says 'TOILETTE' or 'WC' - or just go pee in the alley.

And so it goes...

Has anyone seen the actual bill or is the uproar based upon what others say/write about it?

It appears that this "bathroom bill" is an amendment to a discrimination law already on the books.

Speaking of the devil, this was in several of Iowa's newspapers today.

http://wcfcourier.com/news/state-and-regional/iowa/judge-says-transgender-woman-faced-discrimination/article_63f46b27-ebe3-526e-9e26-ab50f9421485.html

Dressed as a woman this guy was run out of the ladies room at the Johnson County Courthouse in Iowa City, Iowa by a female sheriffs deputy. Unbeknownst to many of us here in Iowa including law enforcement is the fact that by law you can use the restroom of whichever sex you think you are. This individual intends to sue unless a suitable settlement can be arrived at beforehand. For those of you not familiar with it, Iowa City, Iowa is its own little world.

He/she stated
"Frankly, I was extremely dismayed that when I told the sheriff's deputy what the law said, she said, `I don't care.' They're officers of the law; they should have to follow the law, too," Jones said. "I don't want this to happen again at the Johnson County Courthouse."

If you have a penis, you should be in the male restroom.

If you have a vagina, use the ladies room.

If you are not sure, just find a handicapped single seater, or stay at home and use your own facilities.

Most of us learned these rules a long time ago.

The ADA laid the groundwork for this.

Would you take your 12 year old daughter in the mens bathroom? What makes you think your wife is safe in there alone?

Yea I can see sexual predators taking advantage of this little loophole.

Yes, if I had a concern for her safety, and there were no other reasonable options.

I believe my wife has enough street smarts not to enter a deserted restroom alone. Situational awareness.

I'm trying to picture your reaction if a TG (pre-op) in a dress followed your rules, and entered the mens' room while you in there:munchin

You read my mind Sir. That's exactly was I was about to write: build a third toilet and be done with it.

However, on second thought I'm sure that such a solution would certainly create outrage in those outrage professionals in the media and would let them call for a ghettoization and/or gender based profiling.
Too bad a non existent problem is originating from them trying to make equal what equal is not.
You can feel a woman all you want, but you aren't. And vice versa

Emulating Europe seems to be the liberals MO.

Our fore-fathers came over to escape European culture / laws.
A further example of the vocal (0.3%) minority winning over the vast majority.

First time I've ever hoped for a law suit, but a large, successful public outcry would be better.
