Zombie Bullets In High Demand Following Flesh-Eating Attacks
DETROIT (WWJ) – Worried about a zombie attack? Buy zombie bullets.
Talk about zombies and a possible zombie apocalypse has increased due to recent gory accounts of drug-induced, flesh-eating attacks in the news.
Stores across the U.S., including in Metro Detroit, are getting in on the undead action by selling Zombie Bullets, made by Hornady Manufacturing

In Michigan, the bullets are available at Cabela’s (http://www.cabelas.com/handgun-ammunition-hornady-zombie-max-handgun-ammunition.shtml). You can find other retailers selling Zombie bullets at this link (http://www.hornady.com/store/Z-MAX-Bullets).

Looks like the market for zombie themed products is growing. I've seen many zombie style targets as well. A comment at the bottom of the article, from your link, brings up a good point though;
"It occurs to me that it would be a bad idea to load your personal defensive firearm with this "zombie" ammo. Can you imagine how the prosecuting attorney would use it against you in front of a jury, even though it is really no different than the equivalent non-zombie ammo?"
It was recommended to me, by an attorney, to stick with "gold dot" ammo since many in law enforcement use it. I guess it could save you from zombies and lawyers :D

hahahahahaha til somebody gets hurt. Ammunition should be treated seriously.
The non-gun owner who buys a box and displays it in his (office) cube. hahaahahahah until there's a fire and a FireFighter gets dropped by a cook off.
Besides a Zombie Round has a special charge in the projectile that explodes inside the Zombie (hopefully his/her head) causing an enhanced destructive effect. (World War Z).
Irresponsible.

But your defense could be. "Judge, I thought he was already dead and I feared for my life so I did what I had to do."

The problem with "zombie" bullets is you can only kill them by shooting them in the brain(Per Maggie, who watch's that show, not my kind of entertainment)or chop off their head.........:p Shooting someone in the brain isn't quite that easy a shot,is it?... But trying to chop off their head, you can get in from behind them which seems a lot easier and saves you money since "zombie" bullets are quite expensive... Just saying.

Gents, here's an easy way to save on ammo.
Just Zombie proof your house ......

You just need to get the real zombie bullets. I have ROB ZOMBIE bullets. Real zombies are so afraid of Rob Zombie that the bullets are just an afterthought.
I would love to hear the initial 911 call regarding the naked suspect eating the other guy's face. In the alternative, I would settle for the radio traffic from dispatcher to first officer on scene.

It seems this particular zombie was a 'spitter' not a 'swallower'!

Another example of excess and waste in this country. He goes to all that trouble and effort for a snack, and he spits it out. I bet that kind of thing does not happen with African zombies. :D

I have to admit buying a couple of boxes of the Hornady 000 Zombie Shotshells.
When I saw them at the gunshot, I had a bit of a giggle, but when I read the performance statistics I snapped them up. The Zombie carries 9mm sized shot and gives a MV of 1600 fps. That is almost twice as fast as my lightweight carry gun in .45 ACP. I think this could be a good manstopper.
Back story: Many years ago I was called to help apprehend a rapist who had raped two little piccanins in the veldt near my house. In the hurried circumstances and unsure of the garbled story told me by the witnesses, I decided to take one of my shotguns loaded with No 7 birdshot. Long story short, after a long run, we caught up with the alleged rapist and I called on him to stop running. He turned on me with knife in hand and I shot him in the legs at a range of about ten feet. He kept coming so I then raised my aim and shot him in the stomach at about 8 ft. He went down immediately at the second shot and the police came and took him away. Three months later he was completely recovered for his court case.
Perhaps I can be excused for falling for the Zombie hype?

Shot penetration or pattern spread at close range is little affected by shot size.
At ten feet or so, the wad may have still been in the shot column.
The rule of thumb is about one inch of pattern spread per yard of distance to target. At ten feet, it should have looked like a hungry rat chewed his way in.
IMHO, if the shot from that range failed to penetrate, it was due to low power more than small shot size.
The Zombie load is not an atypical magnum buckshot round, but the round, unstabilized pellets bleed energy rapidly. IMHO, your .45 will still be accurate and able to penetrate long after any shot load short of a rifled slug.
Happy hunting!
