Any tips you guys can spare would be great. This is my first year with multiple fruiting plants. Since my grandfather has passed (1997) this is the first time I am planting in a bigger scale. He used to help me. :)

I have good luck with tomatoes by digging about 18-inches down with a posthole digger, then laying a shellcracker or bluegill in the bottom of the hole. I fill it up with Miracle Grow garden soil and keep it almost saturated with water all season. Works for corn, beans-everything.

Thanks Dusty!
My grandfather used to use sardines or other small fish he caught on the dock. Unfortunately I don't have access to an ocean like I used to. Would fish meal be about the same? We used Miracle Grow last year on a test grow of about 5 plants and I couldn't get the mixture right and we ended up with about 7 tomatos. Right now I have about 30 blossoms and I did dig deaper than I did the last time (about 9 inches).
If i get to pesky say so :D

What's wrong with white cow composted manure? Or Brown cow? Or maybe white and black spotted cow manure? What about horses?

We can't even grow grass in our yard. The dogs rip it all up. :o

Sure am! Barely! Its a tiny garden but a beginning. :D
The weather has been so….unspring-like (I’m being politically correct here) in Michigan that I don’t even have anything in the ground yet.
However, eventually there will be:
Blue Lake green beans (if I can keep the rabbits out of them)
Big Boy tomatoes
Cherry tomatoes
Bell peppers
Jalapeno peppers
Burpless hybrid cucumbers
Mint
Chives
Oregano
Thyme
Basil
Flat leaf (Italian) parsley
Cilantro
And instead of sunflowers (which proved irresistible to the rabbits) perhaps I will try hollyhocks in the back. Of course, marigolds around everything for insect control.
Iceberg lettuce
Romaine lettuce
Collards
Big Boy tomatoes
Jalapenos
Squash
Zucchini
Bell Peppers
Strawberries
Blueberry Bush
Herbs (in separate pots):
Cilantro
Lavender
Thyme
Parsley
Chives
Rosemary
Tomatillos
Roma Tomatoes
Serrano Peppers
String Beans (pole)
Basil
Thyme
Rosemary
Cilantro
Some plants that have grown on their own from compost that was mixed into my garden bed:
Pumpkin Squash (they are trying...pillbugs have destroyed all but 3 of the plants)
Baby Red Potatoes
Too early to tell, but I believe some zucchini as well.
My garden as of late has been abound with pests, due to my lack of proper care and knowledge. Something has been eating the tomato buds/blooms on the Roma plants.
I've been using diamataceous earth, sprinkled at the base of the plants as well as the perimeter of the raised garden bed. It seems to be working; I've noticed less and less chewed up leaves on the pumpkin squash.

You never know when you are going to need a fully automatic plumeria...

Six very early tomato plants and two small rows of green onions in the back yard. They have to get ripe before the middle of August or I'm gone off hunting. I had to put up deer fencing on each side of the house to keep them away from the tomatoes.
As much as it has been raining I should have planted water lilies.

Herbs are going crazy, pretty good for starting from seed. Peppers are starting to flower too. Maters seem to be struggling a little. Sunflowers are already 6ft tall.

The deer attacked last night between 2 and 3 am and breached the defensive system. There were heavy casualties amongst the tomatoes.
Oooh, sorry to hear that. Hope they got a tummy ache!
So far, the rabbits have been too lazy to penetrate the chicken wire around mine.

Thanks. My son and I built it, but she tends it which for her is a labor of love.

Nice garden!
I have a few jalapenos and cilantro that went into huevos rancheros; too soon for Michigan tomatoes.

Yumm!
Something besides produce in my garden. Seems to be garden spider season as well. How do these things not eat each other?
