A friend of mine just sent me a link to this. If you are in business that provides service or goods you really should watch this video.

I have always shied away from social media because of all of its pitfalls but as a business owner I do not believe I can continue down that road. This one video may have shifted my thought process on social media and social marketing... I will have to do some further research to solidify my beliefs but this is pretty eye opening.

I would really like what everyone's thoughts and opinions are on the topic as well.

TIA

I personally am experiencing a technology regression. This weekend I realized how long it took me to print out a map and directions from google maps compared to the good old days when i would use a thomas brothers map and steer with my knees.

Meh...I'm part owner and IT director for a small motorcycle parts company...we have a website...we do NOT have a facebook or myspace page...and the other owners will have to push me a long way before I'll start one. That said...we make after-market parts for Harley Davidson motorcycles...so a good portion of our demographic won't care if we have FB. Then again, there are others that will...I had an hour long conversation with a 'dito in Houston several weeks back, about Linux, of all things. Just weird...sitting in a biker hangout, drinking a beer, and talking about...Linux?

Isn't that the truth, its crazy how fast this stuff is shifting. To try and catch up I'm attending a social media class for my profession, I'll be sure to give the highlights (if their are any).

No way around it! Social media and internet have become essential tools for expanding your business... Especially when it comes to Real Estate! You might want to consider that many are now bypassing the Realtor/Agent in the traditional sense of the word. Rather, they are turning to websites and portals that give them direct access to home owners and property related info. You can find ways to slide in there. I think you made a great choice in signing up for the Social Media course. Will be interested to hear how that pans out. Best of luck!
