Newt is a little too late to the party.

He's trying to wedge his way back into the Republican's favor. He's thinking of the 2012 run for pres.

He needs to just go back and sit on the sofa with Nancy.

Newt is one of the smartest guys in D.C. He was successfully demonized by the left.

I think he's got a good handle on the issues we face.

And I agree with your assessment that he'd like to run in 2012.

I watched all 5 sections of his speech last night and agreed with most of his assessments and prescriptions ...

Especially the remark that "This is MADNESS!"

Newt is one of the smartest guys in D.C. He was successfully demonized by the left.................

True but that was in the 90s. He spent the first half of the 2000s sucking up to the left.

Little hard to do the "Follow me, Boys" routine when you're about 2 miles behind the real leaders.

He jumped into NY23 - late, and on the wrong side. Him and Steele should have just bowed out of it and kept their collective mouths shut.

Excuse me while I don't get all excited with Newt. His time has come and gone.

And is he smart? He should be smart enough to know that if a number of conservatives run in 2012 they will only split the conservative vote in the primary giving us another Lame canditate. But then again it's all about "ME" for some politicians.

Very well put. I really hope the Republican Party will back a Conservative candidate that will cater to both the 'political types' and the 'not-so-involved' conservatives. Like you said, Newt's time has come and gone. Besides, he has too many skeletons in his closet to garner a ton of interest from the Republican Party.

Too bad Newt is just as big a hypocrit as every other politician out there. He didn't need to be demonized by the left, he did it himself. He had a field day with Clinton and the Lewinsky scandal, only to find out he had been dittering on the side as well.

I have no time for asshats who are part of the "do as I say, not as I do" crowd.

Unfortunately, that seems to be everyone in government. :D

Most of them have not learned that if they just keep their mouths shut about certain subjects they would be a whole lot better off. But then they see the lure of the camera and have to put their two cents out there for everyone to see. It ALWAYS comes back and bites you in the butt.

I wouldn't have a problem with Newt if he would have kept his mouth shut about the whole Clinton affair.

Exactly why he should have kept his big trap shut instead of painting himself "holier than thou", and then get caught doing the exact same thing. I could care less if either of them had an affair. That is between them and their wives. The fact that Newt siezed upon the affair for his own politcal gains is what galls me. I lost all respect for him when his affair came to light, and regardless of whether or not his views on the current political situation are correct, he is still a political hack who holds himself to a different standard than everyone else. Not someone I would EVER vote for.

Afchic,

It's politics, not a wrothy endeavor like Military Service, where the measure of a man/woman is their character and their word is entrusted to keep a fellow soldier alive vs. dead. It is politics. Newt is a politician, and I do not hold them to the same standards.
The ONLY exception is the Office of the President of The United States. That is a sacred office, and it should be held as such, without any blow-jobs from non spouses...IMHO.:munchin

That my dear is why we as a nation are in the situation we currently find ourselves. Because we don't hold our politicians to a higher standard. It's ok to lie, cheat and steal, as long as they are doing it in behalf of their constituents??? Nope, not a chance, not in my book. They are charged with writing the laws for this great nation, and if they can not be trusted, then why do we even bother? The laws they write have an effect on the warrirors of this great nation. And if they can't be trusted to do so honestly, then they put us all at risk. IMHO

You are so right, if they cannot be trusted, then why do we even bother??? Exactly!!! People don't care, they don't hold them accountable...people in general do not give a rats ass what their "elected" representitives are doing. But I know that they soon will...when taxes and cost of living go up, and their health and welfare benefits go down...THEN they will give a damn. Sadly, it will be too late to do anyhting but bitch and moan about it...a sad day that is coming indeed.

I care, hence why I would never vote for someone like Gingrich. I care when someone like the governor of SC runs off, at tax payer expense, to see his mistress in another country. I care when the holier than thou conservative politicians rail about the evils of homosexuality, and then are caught in a airport restroom attempting to solicit. I care when the charimen of the House ways and means committee can write the law to force us to pay taxes, but doesn't feel the need to obey they same law.

I believe that if someone will lie to you in one aspect of their lives, they will lie to you in others. I honestly don't care about the piccadillos of the politicians, until they get caught calling the kettle black.

If you don't want to hold them to a higher standard, as the people elected to write the laws of this great nation, that is on you. I feel they should be held to a higher standard than ANYONE, with the power they are given, we damn well should expect it instead of saying, "Oh they are just politicians, it is expected they are going to be a louse"

AM in agreement with you, afchic, and hope you know that. A very good post, IMHO!

And I do want to hold them to a higher standard! Sadly, the majority in America obviously do not, hence our elected CIC and Congresscritters. Am just pointing out the obvious here...And all I am saying is that people are people, no matter what their job title, these days! They PREY on folks that are lonely, alone, or just plain too stupid to understand, and call them out to be their subjects in affairs involving sex. It just is the way things are, and I am calling like I see it is all. Is it right? Is it moral? Is it the way things should be? NO, no, and no...but it is the way things are...IMVHO.:(

Agree totally with afchic,Newt pressed his first wife to sign divorce papers while she was still in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery.......He was a draft dodger. He avoided the Vietnam war through a combination of student and family deferments......He pulled a Bill Clinton by having one of his women perform oral sex during the 1976 campaign,so he could claim he never slept with that women.......etc,etc..... Huh? Politics is (used to be...?) a very worthy endeavor. It's the politicians who don't get that and are in it for their own personal greed that makes it such a freaking mess.

I DO hold politicians to the highest of standards because our entire country depends on them to do the right thing, especially when no one is watching. Sound familiar?

If a person screws over their spouse, a person they have made a sacred vow with, you can bet your last dollar they're going to screw over the country.

Every time they screw up, or screw us, it's up to us...WE THE PEOPLE...to get involved and send a message.

I DO hold politicians to the highest of standards because our entire country depends on them to do the right thing, especially when no one is watching. Sound familiar?

In a perfect world, gypsy, I agree completely, and as usual, you are spot on in your synopsis. Do you not think I want to hold elected officals, Honored Professors, Granduated Doctors, and Bar passing Lawyers to the same standard? I do for f#*^S sake, it just is not reality in my very humble opinion.

WE THE PEOPLE have spoken...and we have what we have as CIC to show for it...sadly.:(

Impressive. He had notes but didn't look at them. I think the message would go over well nationally, MSM notwithstanding. I wish the "leaders" of the right were edgier, though. I get tired ot the delivery being too light-hearted or colloquial. He approaches that at the end when he mentions this is madness and motion for impeachment etc. Just not enough !!'s.

I believe the the American resolve referred to in Admiral Yamamoto's alleged line still exists. It just takes a punch in the face to bring it out. Unfortunately, the social/entitlement movement and rise of islam is insidious. Although Fort Hood should be a huge wakeup.

For me, I will study the issues and candidates local, state and national; contribute monetarily to worthy candidates/causes; and prepare for the worst.

If I could blank out who the speaker was, I find myself agreeing with what he says. Unfortunately, for me at least, it no longer matters what he says, he is simply trying to use the current political environment for his own political grandstanding.

Yes the message matters, but so does the messenger.

Newt hit the nail on the head. What also scares me, and I've said it before, is the fact that the leftist media has done such an incredibly good job of discrediting 'every' creditable moderate, mod-right, or right elder statesman.

They have done so to the extent that those who previously voted for them or who share the mod-right points of views go so far as to unwittingly parrot the liberal's slander, furthering the leftist cause.

People fail to check sources and find out 'where did the information that led me to this point of view come from?' and they buy into whatever the MSM feeds the sheeple.

As with Cheney, GW, Sarah Palin etc etc etc, Newt was successfully discredited repeatedly to the point that even his political views, however intelligent, however spot-on, however well said/thought-out/presented, it is brushed off as rubbish by the left (Tea Baggers?).

THAT is a PSYOP campaign worthy of a research project...

So what if it turns out someday Newt was a turd-stabbing child molestor of questionable nationality of origin who cheated on his wife, had 33 illegitimate children all over the globe, embezzled money from St Jude's children's hospital, cursed the pope, cheated in college, and made out with 3 ugly fat chicks at spring break 1965...or whatever other tabloid bullshit they can dig up/cook up/make up and throw out there for your consumption without any verification whatsoever...

WHAT HE SAID AND EVERY SINGLE POINT HE MADE IS 100% CORRECT AND UNDENIABLY DEAD ON THE MONEY AND I FOR ONE AM THANKFUL THAT THERE IS SOMEONE LIKE HIM IN DC WILLING TO SHAKE OFF THE WEIGHT OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND SAY WHAT THE F*** NEEDS TO BE SAID REPEATEDLY UNTIL THE AMERICAN SHEEPLE OPEN THEIR EYES TO THE REALITY THEY ARE TRYING SO HARD TO DENY. Amen?

He has my respect and support simply because he is saying what has been on my mind and THAT is f***ing A representative gubment how it's supposed to be, not like it is now or has been for quite some damn time now. God bless him. GO NEWT!!!
