So PAC-10 is doing pretty well this year with multiple teams at 8 wins. I'm excited about the Oregon State University vs. University of Oregon game this year. Does the winner go to the Rose Bowl? And is Ohio State University playing at the Rose Bowl this year?
No matter, I think this year's Civil War will be a great game. Both teams have been playing better than ever.
GO BEAVERS!!!

Don't you mean Cougs v. Huskies?

Oh, I guess not then. It's been a LONG season in Pullman...very long.

Pfft, Beavs don't have a chance. It's going to be a "lively" civil war, though. But, I expect to have my consolation skills honed dealing with my wife's Beaver-loving (err wait, that sounds bad) side of the family after the game :D

Go Dawgs !!!!!!!! I hate Cougars......:D
SH4,
Not trying to hijack the Civil War, but I saw an article this AM in the Seattle Times and had to laugh:
"At times, the Cougars play sort of tentatively, mechanically, as if the ultimate prize, winning, is as foreign to them as Uzbekistan."
Sigh...

Yes, the winner of the Oregon Civil War football game goes to the Rose Bowl.
Yes, it looks like the Ohio Buckeyes are going to be there too.
Last Sunday I spent the day in Corvallis on the OSU campus with my father at the wrestling match with Oregon State, Wisconsin and Boise State. Dad wrestled for OSU and we sat with a bunch of wrestlers from his era. They all knew I went to Duck-U so they waited a while then got around to asking me who I thought was going to win the civil war football game. Was smart enough to not offer my opinion in that room.
It's going to be some good football.

An Oregon team.

Who's going to win?
Why the team with the most points on the scoreboard at the end of the game. :p
'Bama vs Gators is the Game of the Week for me to see who plays Texas in the BCS Championship in January. ;)

UVA v VA Tech= Tech wins again. Al Groh is gone as UVA head coach .

It's a shame, he was the best coach on the VT payroll... I'll miss him, I always looked forward to the UVA shellacking at the end of the season. That job is like quicksand- UVA has no recruiting power in Virginia (Tidewater to be exact) and won't have any for the forseeable future (Beamer is going to coach until he is 70).

Oregon football? - - you mean like all the $$ Oregon spent hyping 'Joey Who' for the Heisman until his Civil War peformance cost them the Rose Bowl and he was lucky to get drafted by Detroit? :D

Good memory...
this isn't news to you but some football has a little business aspect.
So no high school or college in Texas has ever spent money on football?

Sure - lots of $$ - football is some sort of religious movement around here in Texas - Saturday Night Lights (the book, the movie, the TV show about the 'Panthers') are about the way it is with football in Texas - it would be a hard sell around here to base such a media blitz on a football team called the 'Ducks' though. :p :D

Yep! Nothing like a Friday night in Midland!!! Atmosphere compares to a pro game.
After my 3 years in San Angelo, I honestly thought SNL was a DOCUMENTARY! The High School stadium there was BIGGER than many of the colleges' in Eastern Oklahoma!
I do wonder what the typical Texan thinks of a team mascot such as the Beaver. Then again...my first school was the Trojans. Our QB always had protection. :D

I have seen that. Well what do you expect from Eugene where tye dye is still in fashion. Great School spirit.
I was at a council meeting about 17 years ago. The City manager was a Duck. We had some beaver fell a tree. The tree hit the sewer line bending it slightly. The topic at the council meeting was how to deal with the beavers without causing a human cry. I mentioned that the best way to keep the beavers out was to put up goal posts. The city manager almost fell out of his chair in laughter.
When went to OSU, in the late 70's, the Beavs where generally at the back of the pac (ten that is)

Beavers ahead at the half by two.
I think the majority of the defense is being provided by the officials.

Halftime. Good game so far.

Good stuff!
Both teams have come a long way to be playing like they are so far.
Great Job OSU Beaver TE Brady Camp on the reception!
OK you stinkin' ducks, get back to work.

Yes they did but had to earn it from one hell of a tough Oregon State football team.
I hope the OSU player who broke his leg on the field heals up good.
Great game. Now on to the Rose Bowl. Gooooo Ducks, quack attack 'em.
Ducks offense was impressive in the 4th Q.
Ducks offense was impressive in the 4th Q.
I hope this practice does not become a habit. It seems the same thing happened against Stanford, but the Cardinals hung on to win. Ohio State is playing pretty good ball, and if the Ducks want to win the Rose Bowl, they're going to have come playing well right from jump street.

dennisw,
And you wonder why the Ducks have been called "the heart attack kids" in the past. They about give the coach a cardio-condition.
Stanford is a force this year with man-monster offensive front line and a great quarterback.
What is in the Ducks favor is the conditioning program they have, practice at game speed with lots of extra running. This is one reason why they pull ahead in the last quarters. Many players have stepped up to get them to this point.
Also the defensive coach is very good at making adjustments.
I always hate to see the Beavers lose because my God Father played ball for them and one of the starting lineman who was on the famous "1967 OSU Giant Killer" Team was a very good friend of mine. The Giant Killers were coached by Dee Andros, a former Marine who coached like he was still in the Corps.
My friend, Bob Jeremiah who was on the Giant Killer team (Bob passed away from ALS some time back) was slated to head out to become a Marine the day of the last game that season and Dee Andros told the Marines to "let me have him one more day then he's yours". The Marines agreed.
Bob was a big strong young man, offensive lineman (if memory serves) and when he got to boot camp the DI wanted to make an example out of the "fat boy" and ordered him down to do push ups thinking he couldn't do even a few. When Bob got to one hundred the DI stopped him.
Bob credited Dee Andros for this.
Bob served as a Marine Sniper in Vietnam, was seriously injured and sent home and founded the most successful "drilling and blasting" outfits in the Northwest.

Mr. Harsey,
Your ducks did it once again...took the Rose Bowl berth away from my Beavers. However, I can't hate a Pac-10 team that's gonna beat Ohio State. I hope the ducks beat the bucks at the Rose Bowl.
I hope the ducks beat the bucks at the Rose Bowl.God, I hope not...sorry guys, but the GF is an OSU alumna...my life wasn't much fun after the USC game and it was positively miserable after the Purdue game...Go Bucks...nothing personal, mostly self-preservation...
