I have debated for the past two days about posting this here. . I just decided to suck it up and go for it.. :D
I was in DC last Friday, running a couple of errands at The Wall. Photographing a name, and leaving a note with money owed for someone
who's name is there.. While I was standing at the souvenir stand waiting to see if they had any pow/ MIA bracelets (no, out yet again). I have given far to many away. I ran into a group of Viet Vets from Far South Texas.
These guys were in town to testify at both the House of Reps and Senate committees on the need for a new VA hosp in far south Texas.
I made them a promise to post on the web and ask anyone I could find to support this bill by writing and calling their Reps and Senators asking them to support these two bills.
For both our Vets and Texas it is a win-win situation. A VA can bring much needed jobs to the area and our Vets win because they no longer have those 4,5, 6 hour one way drive to get medical care. Economic Stimulus at its finest and a damn good way to spend my tax dollars.
below I posted the bill, a link to the text, with sponsors
and a URL for the appropriate government body to find your reps or senators.. to write..
HB 1232
sponsored by Representative Ortiz
text: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.1232:
To find your Representative : www.house.gov
SB 699
sponsored by Senator Cornyn
text: well crap... the text has not been entered.. if you back track to the main Thomas website, type in sb 699. It has been read twice and referred to the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs.
To find your Senator : www.senate.gov
In advance, thanks for any support you can give.
