If you didn't know the answer to 80% by just reading the question you're in trouble on this one.

Not sure about the QB in stockings - Joe did have all those shave girls rubbing on him.

I watched way, WAY too much tv growing up. That's all there is to it. The wife says if I used my brain to store things other than all the trivia that collects in there, we could retire very, very wealthy. :D

Actually, it was Jack Weinberg, a grad student at UC Berkely during the Free Speech Movement of the early 60's, which was kind of a predecessor to the anti-war movement. It isn't a direct quote, IIRC, but is close to it.

I first found this out in November 1969 while arguing with the chairman of the SDS at the U of Miami, during the Moratorium Against the War. His name was Stu Weinberg, and he was Jack's brother. He told me, amidst our 'discussion' that his brother - the source of that quote - would soon be turning 30, and he could therefore no longer trust him.

After that, I think everyone, to include the Beatles, said it!

Thanks, ZD. Weinberg's the guy I thought was a prof at UCB.

Actually it was pantyhose not stockings. I'm a FOG , used to drink at the same bar as Broadway Joe and other Jets. Joe was a nice guy, Don Maynard was a bit of a jackass.

Go with your second choice! This FOG got 'em all right, even the wrong one that PSM referenced, although the question doesn't really say that Dylan first said it - just that he warned us. I am sure he did, many times (at least until he hit 30!).

It's Wonder Bread, alright. The only thing my mom would buy! She'd bake great pies, cakes, biscuits, shortcake, etc - but then buy Wonder Bread! Probably some reaction to surviving the Great Depression...

Some of us recall being lucky enough that a large furniture piece next to our Dad's chair was a radio. Interesting quiz. Recall when you a got a coke from a reach in cooler in the store and drank it in the store to cash in the bottle?

I remember putting my dime in one of these Coke Machines, sliding the glass Coke bottle along the rail to the "extraction point," pulling the Coke out, and opening it on that device on the front.

I recall the 5 cent machines and then later in 57 a rare 7 cent machine that was not a reach in. It was outside a gas station in the Ft Knox area. The machine I think you are referring to was the old nickel machine. You opened the top and slide the bottle, I think? There was an opener on the side or front. Coca Cola has an intersting site that shows all these old vending machines. I recall a vendio sp, machine. I looked them up about a year ago on ebay to buy one, and; they are not cheap. I do not have that kind of money for nostalgia. I would like one though.

Sure do, along with the cooler ZD posted. There was one in the auto shop where my mom worked in the office. My dad and I would go out on the shop floor and hang out with the mechanics from time to time, shooting the shit over Cokes. The game then was everyone would get their Coke from the cooler, then look to see where the bottle was made (as imprinted on the bottom). Whoever had the bottle that traveled the farthest drank for free. Good memories.

Yep, we used to call that matching.

I remember bringing bottles back from Italy and Korea to return, just to laugh about the guy who got that one later.
