Got call from grandson yesterday saying he made it through. Said only 90 made it through his class. He felt good saying that many Rangers and 11Bs didn't make it and he is a tank mechanic out of 1st Cav at Hood. 18D/Pashto. Is proficent already in Spanish. Hopes for 7th.
It was almost 130 that made it if I recall correctly.

Regardless of the exact number it was still less than half for a 19 day course instead of the 24. Ment you were pushed hard and hung in there. Each that made it should be proud because more than half didn't. Now keep driving on.

Roger that TR. When we were getting our brief on language assignments, Russian had 10th group listed first, and 7th group listed second. That was the only time I had heard that 7th group even had Russian as an option. Thanks for keeping my expectations realistic though.

Congratulations bsugrad!! Stay mentally focused, be smart, and take care of your body. You'll see many of your peers who don't do these things. They think they can "tough it out" and they won't be with you at graduation. While there are definitely times you're gonna have to "tough it out," the Q is long haul training. Good luck!

A female made it....a man should have made
A women made it with removed obstacles. Granted, since a women made it then an average man should make it, would be nice if we had one standard and that standard would come from the very first year SFAS was started.
Second point; best feeling I had was passing phase I in 1986, incredibly hard course, really sucked, lost a lot of guys. Failed 18D, 19 year old pussy hound, deserved to fail. Got the pleasure of attending SFAS in 1990, passed with broken foot and broken wrist, great feeling to be selected. Started the painful and difficult task of the Q course....then reality began and the realization of the responsibilities and difficulty of being a competent team mate.
Congratulations on being selected, enjoy. Only allows you to attend the Q. Pass that...it allows you to be at the lowest level allowed on an ODA, there is no real graduation, there is only the privilege to do a difficult occupation most cannot do....there is always another rung on the ladder so finishing requires one of two things, death or quitting. Sorry for being wordy, 3rd glass of whiskey (yes, with an "e"). Good luck
