Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I will follow up with a range report after this weekend. Aside from the SCARmor finish being much more gray than I had expected, I am very happy with the construction and mounting mechanism of the can.

Here are the pictures:

Whose low profile gas block is that ? LaRue, PRI, ?

Whose rails did you use ? Looks like the "Car" length rail system.

How long was your wait time with the BATFE approval ?

I've never fired the AAC can, but even Joe Gadinni of SWR will tell you that AAC and Surefire are the people do beat in the .223/5.56 suppressor market. And he's in the business of manufacturing suppressors.

The gb is the RRA Weaver style. I would have gone with the standard fsb, but since the barrel is only 10.25", the bayonet lug would not clear the can. I just acquired a fsb and will be cutting the lug off and then replacing the RRA gb with it.

The rails are the 1st Gen KAC RAS/RIS.

The wait time for BATF approval was 5 weeks, but the wait for AAC to get the can to me was about 4 months. Make sure your dealer has them in stock because AAC is really backed up.

I am also waiting for BATF to approve my OPS Inc. 12th and I am on week #3. BTW, Joe makes great cans as well.

More pictures following this weekend range session. :D

Hey, it's your blaster, but I like the RRA Weaver GB that you've got. I believe that's a Troy front iron (flip up) Looks good to me.

I'm looking at Surefire now. I've owned a Knights .223 QD for some time and it's just a shitty can compared to the SWR Spec War II and the Surefire.

Joes rifle cans are a bit heavy but they are hot shit quite if the right ammo is used.

Did you throw in a "Gas Buster" charger with that shorty ? ;)

I wouldn't say that the KAC M4QD is a shitty can. It was a great can for it's day back in 94 and if you wanted a QD, it was the only game in town. As a civilian, you will not get the level of customer service that you would get with another manufacturer such as AAC or SWR. The service life of the KAC can is not as good as some of the modern ones by those manufacturers previously mentioned; also the sound reduction is not as good, but is adequate for its intended purpose (well below the pain threshold and the sonic crack of a supersonic bullet in flight).

The Surefire is a great can (do a search on The Reaper's comments on the subject).

Orginally I wanted the option of a flip down FS, but the LaRue mounts the Aimpoint high enough so that the BUIS only obstructs my FOV by 1/4. I would prefer the durability of the fixed FSB (also, in a high-stress scenario, it is one less thing for me to have to worry about). The Troy BUIS is going on my SPR. The PRI GB is on order (wife and kids limits my toy budget).

Trust me, I know about Knights customer service, after the sale ! I own the .223 QD and the .45 ACP OHG suppressor and dont dare ask for service if your a civillian. I believe Reed is trying to improve this sector of his business for civillians. As for the M4QD suppressor, it's not a total failure and I agree, it was, for it's time, the only game in town for a QD can for your AR15.

SWR (Joe Gadinni) and AAC and Surefire have excellent customer service. Joe has kinda reliquished his suppressor business to some partners and is concentrating on fulfilling his GRIPPOD contract with the U.S. Marine Corps. From what I understand he's not hurting for lunch money anytime soon after that contract was awarded to him for his GRIPPOD. :)

The Reapers thread on the Surefire and some other readings have lead me to investigate it further.

Joe has been much like Mark LaRue in his business. He's straight with you, he tells the truth, and he lives up to his word and services his customers as good as anybody in the business. He threw in one of his GRIPPOD's when he sent back my .45 ACP HEMS II suppressor. I didn't ask for it, it was there in the package. Good people.

Actually I'm on the phone now with Joe and he said to go with the AAC can. That's good coming from a man who is in competition with them.
