I can't remember them ever having anything less than 100% on their shots and yes Virginia, they know code.

NDD, You must be 1/2 of that duo.
I can guess as to who the other 1/2 is.

Note about the web gear. those were indeed one off STABO rigs built for us by John Carver at Eagle. Our previous TS came up with the modifications to the old design, we added input, and John was nice enough to build them for and let us have them. The reasons everybody isn't wearing them is a) not 203 compatible and b) new guys didn't get them. it was a mark of having been on the Team for a while.
The harness worked great. Actually had a PALs type webbing for hooking the pouches in. As far as I know, Eagle didn't build anymore than our 12.

The other gentleman, back row, 2nd from right is the Team Sergeant. HALO Dude extrordinaire. Flys like an Eagle.
Yes, I am torn pants, the lion, whatever else it was you all said.
Reaper is correct about being thankful I don't "dress" on the torn side. the pic would have been NC17. LOL
That damn barbed-wire fence like to have killed me. DAMN! LOL
I have the first shot of this pic in a frame on my desk. The only difference is a couple of the guys changed the way they are holding the weapons or standing, but same order and everything.
I am truly honored, I can't express how much, that someone thought enough of us to put this photo up in MACKALL. I never in a million years dreamed I would be in a picture on a board out there. This was a fine Team, the Team I went to war with.
I served with fine men on every team I was ever on, and its hard to pick one, but there is one that I am even more proud of than this one, and that's the original 754. The Reaper, Jerry, Gary O, Mark S, JT, etc., taught me how to be a man and a troop. They are the TL and Commo Man missing in that pic.
Note to Sluggos - this pic was taken during Just Cause. This was supposed to be a full A Team. There is no Captain, one Medic and one Communications NCO. We had two cherries with less than a month in Group. We were the QRF for 7th group - Panama-wide!
Know your job as well as the next guy's. I was back up comms, back up Fox, Level II Sniper, and walked point. And I performed everyone of those jobs to some degree or another while we were there.
Later on, we even split the Team and took over two AOs. Me and flag bearer were in one AO and the rest of the Team in another. the Chief and TS traveled back and forth checking on the troops.
We were in-country for 11 months with a one month break. I was a junior E6 at the time and was tasked to give the AAR to the powers that be, then ADVON the next trip.
Be prepared.

AM, Not real world. We test rode them at Sherman during our train up for JC. Like you said, sweet ride, but not for long. The damn ALICE clips would wear a hole in your hip if you used them and 550 cord was too loose. I couldn't carry enough ammo on it to suit me, I like to carry 25-30 magazines. There were problems with them, but very cutting edge for the times. LOL

Pulque, I'm not left handed. I can monkey stomp with either.
I'm not mad, that's the way I look. People here comment on it all the time. I can't help it, its the face I was issued.
Guarding the Ambassador is a big deal for those that don't know. He's basically the on site POTUS and has the power. Losing one is bad juju, so DOD tends to put the best of the best on them, especially when the going is tough.
The Team in the pic did Endara on his first tour after he finally assumed the Presidency. His young wife fainted from the heat in one small town and The Medic treated her. Got a letter somewhere from General Lindsay thanking me for my professionalism in not fully undressing the patient. I thought about it. She was purty. LOL

Again, look at the equipment. It will give you the no-earlier-than time.
Okay, based on the stretchy-looking fabric, it's after Viet Nam and probably in the 1980's till today?
I haven't been able to access uniform pages.

What "stretchy fabric"?

Given the specialized nature of the equipment, I will have to defer all information to those who are HALO qual'd. It's a lot easier when looking at standardized Army gear.
Cough cough cough /edit... where's that edit button?!/ cough...
Damnation. I was referring to the flight suit. I guess it could be TR. I can't tell anything from the rigging, but then again I've yet to jump out of a plane.

Nomex is little better for warmth, and if you want to see what happens to most synthetic fabrics in an aricraft crash, set fire to a piece and watch.
Polypropylene will turn you into a hard shelled, roasted insect before you can get out.

But if that's him, he stole that helmet.

Looks like a standard Dual Zippered Cotton Jump Suit. Three Ring Release on a Pig-Rig that jettisons the Main Canopy when the Reserve Ripcord is pulled. That stuff came out in the late '80s to early 90's.
Black Jumpsuit Probably a Golden Knight !!

Major...Actually the patch was authorized, A Co 101st Aviation was the first unit of the 101st to see combat since WW2, the unit arrived in VN in early 65. Just before this pic was taken the (101st) colors were returned to Ft Campbell, and we became the 336th Aviation Co:

I doubt that anyone will guess this one, but it goes with the history lesson. I flew gunships (T-Birds, 101st), with this gentleman, anyone recognize the face? As a 2 star he eventually commanded the 101st:

ndd and tr thanks for the thread and everyone else for keeping it going. it has been a long time since i have heard a more spirited (although misguided) discussion.
now let's look at the sky guy....
abn board tested ram air parachutes in fall 1983 with what team as wind dummies.... oh thats right it was oda-754
the result was the eventual adoption of the rig you see here. brought to group in 86. used often and hard by who... again oda-754 (had the only two halo jm's in group at the time)
7th group team in early 86 did a stand-off over ocean water to football pitch on nw corner of granada (post bang, bang).. yep, oda-754
in 87 spent a week in pensacola again playing sky dudes where a young medic got his cornea lacerated by the bus driver goggles he could no be talked out of wearing.. hence the blind man stories of oda-754
now see what you have made me do... i have degenerated into a poorly remembered history of a team long ago forgotten....
let me get back to my original point... the black suit is heavy cotton and had a double zipper from ankle to neck. (still have one but it seems to have shrunken as the zippers won't come together). very functional and was the same worn by the knights of that era.
the o2 equip seems to be the updated xx version with the rear mounted bail-out. any helmet could be fitted with mounts and commo for a case or two of beer at pope's o2 shop. a more telling helmet would be the super grey individually molded af model in the next pic because the first two ever in group were on.... let me see.... what team was it..... maybe 754.... here i go again...

Absolutely. If I remember right, the cornea scratch might have been because of a certain Senior Commo guy and the TS, playing in free-fall? LOL That shit hurt for days.
You can tell the blind man story if you want, you and Slinky are accomplices.
The infamous Abn Board!
"Today, we're going to jump and keep adding weight until it fails."
Me - "Until what fails?"
"MT-1XX"
Me - "What's that?"
"The parachute."
Me - "We're gonna do WHAT!"
Whole Team - "Shut up and GET IT ON CHERRY!"
LOL
Think Slinky tells his kids about that bundle chasing him all over the sky?
Bus driver goggles? Chic, I'm sure... :)

We have an underaged leg, critiquing the uniform preferences of two MFF qualified senior members of one of the finest SF ODAs in the Army.
Right...That's not "chic" that's "cheeky", I believe.

Great thread...glad it came back to the top...read the whole thing and I will say NDD you had 'em going...When I opened it and look at the pics I had flashbacks since I was the Team Sergenat for 755 only a year before this pic was taken....all the faces jumped right out.
Only face I don't remember is top left back row...
and being relatively new here, now I know who is who on PS....
Yep that was a great team...and if I may say so there were some others in
B/2/7 also, Ahhhh...the good times.

^^^ Got that right....sitting here now trying to put screen names with real names... Remember Bouncing Bob? I came to 745 from Panama in 87..... Left to be 1SG of GSC in 89 . Also went over to 735 for a while when they consolidated all the SCUBA teams.
EDIT: Remember when we put the Handicapped parking sign in SGM Pete's parking slot...He thought it was cool so he left it there. People finally quit stealing his spot.

I believe you inherited him. He was Junior's junior and he worked for Dennis and Chief P. Like I said, I might be a little off - it has been a long time. We got him from 55. Best medic I ever knew. Knew more medicine than a lot of doctors. I was getting ready to dummy cord his weapon to him with a logging chain when he moved on...
Roger the good times - hardest working Company in SF that one. If you don't count The Plantation next door...LOL
