in absolute disbelief as These photos from Portland Oregon (http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=24853_Leftists_Supporting_the_Troops&only) were put on the internet.
I honestly do not know if I should even feel a reaction is necessary. There is a fraction of every population that is the extreme in word and deed. Political or otherwise.
Free speech? Aren't there limits? I honestly thought that there were limits on exactly what you could and couldn't do (and say) with regards to Our Flag and public obscenity.
For it's shock value it is something I will not soon forget, however, though I do not know these people, and really shouldn't care what they think or do...it sickens me to see this type of behavior coming from my United States. My Country. The land where I call my home.
Were I IN Portland, and had come across this demonstration, though outraged and saddened I wonder if I could have been a big enough person to just walk the other way.....:(

Dispicable acts like this make me wonder why these people even remain residents of the United States. If they hate the flag and it's history and or the administration, they are free to pack up and move to France, Belgium, Mexico, Germany, Britain, etc.
It may be patriotic to question your government, but I've never understood the need to deface the United States flag as part of that demonstration. If I spray "KKK" on a school chalk board, its a hate crime and punishible in a court of law, but If I deface the flag, burn it, shit on it, and urinate on it in public it's protected by the 1st Amendment as freedom of speech. :(
Portland seems to be filled with secular progressives, just as is San Fransico, Cali with little in the way of core values, unless of course you count having a gay porno day as part of your core value system. Immorality is to secular progressives as morality is to evangical christians. Both of course on the farther side of the spectrum. With this type of thinking, or ideology, is it any wonder that gay marriage and gay's in the military is becoming mainstream, and secular progressives see this as a field goal. Tolerance is their key word, but only to the extent that tolerance is on their side, not ours. Assuming your a patriot, and believe in Christ, and that a marriage is between a man a woman, and that our flag stands for freedom and the blood that has been shed to earn that freedom.
What a shame.

If you could you would have been a better man than I! This is absolutely outrageous and what makes it worse, at present it is protected free speech.

IT IS THE SOLDIER
It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Is it not my right to express my opinion and free speech to kick the living shit out of people desecrating my flag?
If we do that to the Mexican flag, is it still free speech, or is it a hate crime?

Professor Alexander Fraser Tytler had this to say about Democracy: " A Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of Government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse (a liberal gift) out of public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that Democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy, always to be followed by a Dictatorship

I believe that it is visible on the Drudge Report, presently left column, about halfway down, entitled, "U.S. SOLDIER BURNED IN EFFIGY AT PORTLAND ANTI-WAR PROTEST..."
Maybe that explains where Mr. Harsey is right now, putting a boot in some deserving punk ass.

No defense, and no excuse, for such atrocious actions by these idiots.
This morning, I had glanced at the image on Drudge Report, and thought it was somewhere in the Middle East. It was after I saw this thread that I went back and realized that it was some worthless scumbags here in the U.S. that did this.
Unbelievable.

Well said, 82ndtrooper. Tolerance is now a one way street, and it's going the wrong way. And that's why, and I'll say it again, I'm intolerant.

I doubt it was pulled down. I didn't know it was on the "Drudgereport" until a minute ago. I've little doubt that the server is being overwhelmed with millions of hits from the Drudgereport readers. I read the Drudgereport all the time and this happens quite often when Drudge links to a website.

I have just received a copy of the pictures from Portland of these "Americans" and their protest.
They depict various protesters carrying banners saying clever things like "Fuck the Troops", "No Gods, No Country, No Masters", burning the flag, burning an effigy of a soldier with a skull mask and in BDU Goretex, etc.
They appear to be Anarchists.
I wish they would come to Fayetteville for their next rally.

It is funny that you say that because whenever Drudge puts up a link to a smaller news source I get the mental image of that sites webmaster screaming "sweet Jesus were on the Drudge Report. Katy bar the door before our system crashes". Chances are it is crashing before he can do anything about it.
I would like to comment about those images but I won't even give the clowns the satisfaction. These morons are a lot like spoiled little children who throw hissy fits when they don't get their way. They both deserve a good spanking to readjust their poor attitudes.

My thought is our elected officials should be fuming over this. I mean, foaming at the mouth fuming! If any member of congress, senate, or the adminstration takes a "higher road" approach regarding this despicable act we lose something as a people. Couple this incident with the red paint tossed upon a congressman's office building including a sign stating "support the troops" and you have solid political ammo. Fight back dammit!!!!

I keep seeing this played out. As in all other things, if you don't work, sweat and earn something you discredit and disgrace it. Those who so easily bad-mouth the United States from within have never in their wildest dreams thought about what sort of hellish internment-camp or re-education facility they would find themselves should they attempt such and action beyond the border of this nation that provides them the opportunity to voice their opinion. What we would refer to as a "cradle of freedom" these people are slowly turning into a cesspool. The photos shown are an extreme example of what I fear is becoming a much more common thought. When was the last time you engaged someone from the left in conversation? The absolute hate is amazing for a group of people that would probably be incapabel of raising a hand to defend either themselves or their loved-ones.
Yeah, that's right. Keep asking for the bad man to come...because he is already here!
Right now he is busy defending you......

They are Anarchists and that is their "uniform". Note the "A" in the circle in the bottom left hand corner of their banner. Probably came down from Seattle, where they're mostly HQ'd. They were all over, during the WTO riots in Seattle several years ago.
Yes, they are, nothing but chicken shit little punks that need to hide behind masks. I'd like to see them try that stuff around Lewis/Maccord. I think they know better.
All they're there for, is to disrupt a peaceful assembly. As we all know, guaranteed under the 1st amendment (even if we don't agree with the protest, it is still the protest organizations right) as best they can, and also the hopes of starting a riot. They come in and do their best to inflame people who don't agree with the protest, in the hopes that THEY become the victim, when someone goes out and beats their ass.
Fuck'em.
Question is - are they worth busting a cap on?
Answer: Hell Yes.
They all look like a bunch of suburban mall rat white kids who's worst day was when their Cafe Latte is a little cold. Absolute cowards. Who knows, one of them might be a NY Senator someday or even President...

I also feel sick to, these people don't deserve to call themselves Americans in fact the word is wasted on them. They are just people who don't have the balls to stand up for an idea so they have to try and put down those who have. All those people put togather are not worth one of you men that have served and bleed for this country. I wouldn't waste a bullet on them the brass is worth more than their lives.

Are anarachists supposed to be organized? Sounds kind of contradictory. They are just a bunch of jerkoffs that don't appreciate their own lives. ....but, we can't use it because we are sworn to defend our country from our enemies both domestic and abroad!!! These freaks in the Pac NW (I was stationed at Ft. Lewis for 16 years) are all usually from Eugene as part of the anarchists there and do nothing but roam the country stirring up trouble. Notice however they don't have the stones to show up anywhere near a military base, especially one with SF, Rangers, or The Airborne! If they love anarchy so much and our country is so terrible, why don't we send them somewhere like.....say....Somalia? No problem right! They'd love it! No pesky government for them to deal with, they should be happy. Its win-win.

Being the radical libertarian that I am, I support their rights to peacable assembly and free speech.
Being the intelligent person that I am, I understand that right only protects them from reprisal by the government.
Being the individualist that that I am, I support the fact that we are all responsible for our actions, and the resulting consequences of said actions.
To ensure the government does not infringe upon the rights of these protestors while still allowing for an appropriate reaction to this shameful conduct, I propose the following law:
Kicking the ever-loving snot out of any person who, through speech or action, encourages or celebrates the death or harm to individuals serving in the Armed Forces of the United States shall receive a punishment of a $5 to $500 fine--the exact amount decided by the person(s) charged. The entire amount of said fine shall being forwarded to organizations such as The Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Wounded Warriors, Soldier's Angels, et. al. Upon payment of said fine, the charge and ensuing punishment shall be striken from all records, and said fine may be claimed as a tax-deductible donation.
I'm not fluent in legalese, so we may have to work on the "Kicking the ever-loving snot..." part.

I like that idea, Sionnach. We may could go one step further with it.
With the proliferation of groups like these, I wonder if we could prepay like a phone card? Just think of it, a "Scumbag, Butt-Kicking ATM Card".
The police could bring a credit card swiper to the scene. One could pay up via the debit card, and the whole thing would be over with in a jif. No muss, no fuss.
