13-Year-Old Author Writes Book Based on Green Beret Father's Experience with Dog From Iraq
Donates Portion of Proceeds to Warrior Foundation

13-year-old author, Samantha Joyce, of Fayetteville, NC is pleased with the end result of a book written by her and published and edited by her mother, a teacher for children with special needs. Her 9-year- old sister, Elise, also participated in the book project by drawing her own renditions of the Author (sister), Co-writer/ Editor (mother) and friend-of-the-family- illustrator, Debra Moore of Old Town, FL.

“We wanted to do something together as a family,” states Samantha. “My father is in the Army and a few years back brought home a dog he had used during the war. Everyone said that it would make a wonderful story so I wrote about it with the help of my family and it just took off.”

I worked with the SF team leader who was respnsible for Fluffy while I was deployed with SOCCENT. Was a funny story for him in retrospect. Dog did a great job helping his ODA protect their team house. Air Force wasn't supportive of bringing the dog back to the States. You should have heard him tell the story about how it got out in the press and the ass chewing he took from a certain General Officer over the whole thing....
