I'm an Air Force Officer gearing up to make a career jump into the Army SF 18A branch. I can only imagine I will be considerably behind the power curve when compared to an indigenous Army officer especially from a Combat Arms Branch but damn, I can't wait to get started.

Is there anything I can do to make up some ground in the interim? I've got a handle on the P.T. aspect and carrying a ruck while land navagating at the SF course at MacKall was challenging as a young Combat Controller Trainee but accomplished.

I have served 11 years as an enlisted TACP-JTAC, Combat Controller and now a Pararescue Officer so I have some relevant experience but fall short in many areas.

Please advise.

PT, ruck, read, and study FM 7-8.

As an officer, the expectations for you will be higher.

Good luck.
