I'm not a QP, but I was there. 2nd Bn MID from '94 - '95.

We who are support MI guys do say that a bad day in Group is better than any day in an MI unit.

The 7th Group sure was the place to be back in the '80's. I connived like a mo-fo to get there, and when I finally did....I finally had orders in hand assigning me to 3/7....I had to walk away from them to take an ROTC scholarship.

In retrospect, that was a very, very bad move. With the perspective of decades.....I sure wish that I had gone to Panama, instead.

Man, my stupidity knew no boundaries in those days. It started for me when I first went to 1SFGA. Thinking that 1st Group would be cool, right as it was starting back up.

Here is a word to the wise: if they ever offer you the chance to be a plank holder when they reactivate an SF Group, politely decline.

Maybe...I would have felt differently if I had been in the warm weather battalion.

But NOOOOOOO. I had to go to Korea.

Meanwhile....all my buds were cavorting in Thailand, and Malaysia...and the PI.

Bastards.

It still chaps my ass, and we are talking decades now. I remember.
