MORALES, Orlando, Sergeant, USASF

Sergeant Orlando Morales, A Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, 1st Special Forces, was killed in action 29 March 2003 in an ambush in Helmand, Afghanistan.

Sergeant Morales, 33, was born in the Central Puerto Rican town of Orocovis. He spent much of his childhood in Reading, Pennsylvania, and after high school moved back to Manati on the north coast of Puerto Rico.

Sergeant Morales leaves behind his wife, Roxana from South Florida, and an 18 month old daughter.
Somewhere a True Believer is training to kill you. He is training with minimal food or water, in austere conditions, training day and night. The only thing clean on him is his weapon and he made his web gear. He doesn't worry about what workout to do - his ruck weighs what it weighs, his runs end when the enemy stops chasing him. This True Believer is not concerned about 'how hard it is;' he knows either he wins or dies. He doesn't go home at 17:00, he is home.
He knows only The Cause.

Still want to quit?

Rest in peace, Orlando.

I didn't know about his passing until tonight, when Viking mentioned it to me. Sgt. Morales was a fellow team leader in my platoon in the 1/327, before he became a QP. We weren't the best of friends, but he was a good, righteous man, and a fine soldier. The nation and the Army are a lesser place without him.

RIP, Warrior......
I believe that SF is a 'calling' - not too different from the calling missionaries I know received. I knew instantly that it was for me, and that I would do all I could to achieve it. Most others I know in SF experienced something similar. If, as you say, you HAVE searched and read, and you do not KNOW if this is the path for you --- it is not....

Understand the problem; pull your weight. Appreciate. Be completely honest and trustworthy in all things. - Jeff Cooper

Practice honesty and integrity; rescue the man who has been wronged from the hands of his oppressor; do not exploit the stranger, the orphan, the widow; do no violence; shed no innocent blood in this place. Jer 22:3

Rest in Peace SGT MORALES

Is not this the fast that I have choosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? When thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Isaiah 58:6,7
